Marissa May had this chest shot of Arie during Emily's season. Sorry but Sean wins hands down when it comes to hotness and fitness.

That's Arie?! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] He has a lot going for him. A hot body certainly isn't one of them. He's no match for the genetic gift.

The funniest thing to me is that Sean is as far away from a "genetic" gift as they come. He spends half of his life in a gym, monitors his food intake more closely than an anorexic teen girl, relies on protein drinks and supplements and who knows what other types of "juice" he partakes to sustain the bulkiness.

Regaring his dreams of TV famehodom, I thought his good buddy Jeremy made no bones about the fact he was coaching Sean for the TB gig when he went on the Bachette.

I don't see a problem with the bolded at all! It's just like any other athlete with a passion for the sport they love. This is just a choice he made. and he looks goooood with it!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

To the general public Sean will be MAJOR eye candy after a season of Ben!! It was highly needed!! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I agree that I'm sure the general publiic will certainly appreciate seeing a lot of shirtless Sean. Also if Sean does fitness modeling wouldn't it be his job to keep fit.

I know we all have opinions here but none of us know what and how the decision was made to have Sean vs Arie and to me it doesn't really matter because I like both of them. One of the major reasons I could see it being Sean over Arie is the fact they did quirky humor last season so this season they are giving us the "genetic gift". [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Bring on those hot tubs, please!

I drink protein shakes. I monitor what goes into my body. I also work out everyday. I just consider that taking good care of what the good Lord gave me. There's nothing wrong with watching intake and pushing your body physically. As an athlete myself, I can tell you that once you're trained to do that, its difficult to shake. Even after years! I retired from competitive gymnastics 12 years ago and I still find myself craving the routine of working out the way I used to.

This whole Sean vs Arie thing when it comes to looks... different strokes for different folks. I personally prefer a man with more meat on him, but I know others who like the slender look. I find it pointless to debate which is "better", because neither is better. I'm just glad that I'll find this seasons lead attractive. I thought I liked Ben last year, but after the first episode, I realized that I didn't find him attractive physically, and his personality was a huge turn off.

I also want to add that I've never heard of Jeremy coaching Sean to be the Bach. I thought it was speculated here that Jeremy might've given some pointers on what to watch out for when it came to MF, but I don't recall anything else. I remember some people thinking there was "active campaigning" going on in Sean's camp as well, but I never saw that either. Thats just how I see things though.

Arie Luyendyk Jr.: "I Passed on" Being the Next Bachelor

Entertainment September 21, 2012 AT 6:00PM By Allison Corneau

Arie Luyendyk, Jr. was dumped by Bachelorette Emily Maynard this spring on ABC, but the 30-year-old race car driver wasn't interested in getting a second shot at love as the network's next Bachelor.

"I passed on Bachelor this season, just to concentrate on racing," Luyendyk told Us Weekly at Thursday's Los Angeles Confidential Magazine Pre-Emmy party in West Hollywood. Intending to resume his career as a professional driver, the former reality TV contestant -- whose rejection of the spinoff gave way for Roberto Martinez and Sean Lowe to be considered -- credits his time on The Bachelorette with helping him refocus his priorities.

"I've moved on from the Bachelor franchise and I'm doing well. When I was in that environment, I gained a lot of clarity on what I wanted to do in life and for me it really made me just focus on my career when I got out," says Luyendyk. "That's my first love and I'm pursuing that right now."

That said, Maynard's ex -- who placed second on the May finale to Maynard's new fiance Jef Holm -- isn't shutting the door entirely on a future in television.

"I'll never say never. You just never know what the future can hold," he told Us. "I'm open to everything as long as it doesn't conflict with racing. Hopefully I won't be off the TV set for too long."

Tell Us: Would Arie have made a good Bachelor?

no idea JMO but RE is a good bachelor already. I mean who needs the machine? :gotcha:

I agree. People use this show for many reasons and I'm just glad that Arie chose to quite while he's ahead, so to speak. He's going out on a high, reputation intact AND he was the one to turn them down... just like Chris L did. This article also puts to bed all of RS's BS about Arie and whether or not tptb wanted him as first choice to be the lead. It was his to turn down, just as many of us suspected.

And I'm with all who think that Arie's chest is just fine  Abs do not make the man, just the opposite in fact, as sometimes (I said sometimes, not always) it's an indication that the guy is a little to into himself.

Haven't decided if I'll waste my time with Sean. After Jake and Ben fiasco's, this show is becoming less and less attractive to me. I'm sick of vanilla!

I think that after the fiasco of Ben's season, they needed someone squeaky clean, kind, respectful, and the classic "boy next door" type. This = Sean! Arie has too many skeletons in his closet, and isn't as appealing looks-wise.

Off the message boards, in real life, I was shocked by how many people I spoke with said Sean was their favorite. I think many people will be happy with their choice.

Same! Everyone I have talked to is thrilled its Sean. He was their pick for Emily. I'm sure it will be a great show for them. I am excited!

I have to disagree that Arie saying he "passed" on the Bachelor is proof that he was actually their first choice. He may well have been, but we still don't know that. What we do know is that they court several guys at the same time, approach each one with the POSSIBILITY that he will be offered the gig to ascertain if he'd consider it, and eventually decide who will be actually OFFERED it first. All this confirms (and I assume he's being truthful, and this isn't some "face saving" explanation agreed upon with producers after he was told they were going with Sean) is that at some point, Arie took himself out of the running, but it certainly could have been before anyone, including him, had a firm offer.

Jef was F1 by default.
Sean is TB by default.
One day, Arie will win a race... by default.

As a fan of Sean's, I want to wish Arie much success in his upcoming races, and I hope that all the comparisons between him and Sean will now end. Arie has stated that he has moved on from the Bachelor, having a clear direction for where he wants to take his life. Congratulations to him for having weathered the Fleiss machine and to have come out pretty much unscathed at the end.

Personally I would have rather seen Sean move on as well, since I don't trust Fleiss and company, and I would have supported Arie if he had been chosen. But it appears that Sean will be the next Bachelor, and not everyone is happy. I get that. But, I just hope that we can move past this and put to rest the debate as to who was the first, second or third choice. At this point it does not really matter. The choice has been made.

It is now up to each of us to decide whether or not we want to watch a season of Sean as the Bachelor. Some people have already said that they are going to pass, some are not sure, and some are saying that they will watch. I will watch and will support Sean. I will say, though, that I am nervous with what Fleiss and company can do to him with the edit and the cast of women that have for him. I don't trust them....NOT AT ALL.

But, having said that, I am hoping for the best possible outcome for Sean this season, and I think things will settle down here once the sleuthing can begin on this board. And it can't get here soon enough for me!!

I'm not too worried about Fleiss and Co. manipulating Sean. After three very successful seasons up until now, I think they would want to keep their momentum going... Break ups sell, but I think at this point, after many people doubting the Bachelor Formula, Fleiss will be happier with four genuinely successful couples in a row. So I think they will do anything to make it possible, of course with some stupid drama thrown in the mix as always, but not too much..

There will always be manipulations on this show; the producers will do what they need to do in order to craft what they feel will be an interesting storyline; if one doesn't develop naturally, they will coerce it. However, I have always been of the opinion that if the lead is sincere about finding someone and making a commitment, and if they choose wisely (and that includes picking someone who is equally sincere and ready), no amount of producer interference will make any difference. If the couple thinks the relationship failed because of the producers or the media, I suspect they are kidding themselves and don't want to acknowledge their own part in its demise.
