One thing to keep in mind is this whole Bentley thing. It is clear from what Ashley is saying that it is coming across as a whole lot worse than what she expected. She had no idea Bentley was thinking and saying those kinds of things about her, and yet she was running after him in pursuit all the way up through the 6th episode. We see her telling Chris who is trying to discourage her that she wants to see Bentley again.

If it is worse for Ashley, how much worse is it for JP? He is getting blindsided with all of this. He had some idea, yes, but he had no real idea that it was going to look like Ashley was panting after Bentley so hard for so long while he, JP, was so diligently wooing her. Meanwhile, she is supposed to be in love with him, JP.

Now, what does this look like to his friends and family? Yes, she does end up with JP, and yes they can talk edit, but there it is on the TV for 6 episodes, and it is hard to deny that is Ashley saying those things about Bentley when she is supposed to be falling in love with JP.

Is this relationship under a strain right now? It realistically well may be. If JP's friends see him as quiet, there may be a reason for it. He is watching the same thing we are for the first time as we are, and he is seeing what we are seeing, and even though he has been prepared, I suspect he hasn't been prepared enough to discount all of that in the face of anxious friends and family and maybe himself.

Either Fleiss and Co. had no other story, or they did Ashley no favors, but this relationship may be under a tremendous strain.

I agree Bloomers. As much as I am seeing the connection with JP and Ash, there is still all of the Bentley :puke:
being said. That cannot be easy for her F1 to see and hear. I hope after the 27th, we never hear about Bentley again from Ash, except for at the MTA.

I know I'm tired of the Bentley drama and I'm not even envolved in it, I can only imagine what those that are may be feeling. I'm curious to see how she will explain her behavior after the show is over. In her Leno appearance she looked like she was ready to jump out of her skin she wanted to talk so badly, but couldn't. I really hope for Ashley and JP that they show Bentley's return before her date with JP. It would be the respectable thing for MF to do, especially if he'd like to have another successful couple.

have spent hours and hours discussing their feelings for one another, that
he is confident and has no reservations. It's got to be difficult being in
his shoes, regardless of how confident he is.

I'm anxious to see how Ashley's visit with Bentley goes. Chances are, he
will be the one to say ~ he wasn't interested in her. If Ashley comes away
from that visit saying that the feelings she thought she had for Bentley
were no longer there, or realizes it was an infatuation or what have you ~
it would make things looks so much better for the outcome of the show.

I can't remember what interview it was, maybe Leno But Ashley made the comment "I saw what I wanted to see" in reference to Bentley, so hopefully it will be her having an epiphany, and she'll be the one kicking him to the curb. At least that would preserve some of her dignity

Bentley left, unexpectedly for her, and she was left with the thought of what could have been. I suspect most her bawling over that had more to do with coming off the night before, the disasterous roast and her insecurities that the guys don't want to be there because it was her. The one that comforted her and told her that wasn't the case and reassures her that they do, up and leaves the next day and confirms her fear; that guys were going to leave. I think he was on her radar and may have been one she could see at the end (she made a statement alluding as such) but the minute he left, leaving that door open, her imagination took of into la la land of what could have been. Not to say she had fallen totally for him, but without the reality of him there, she could make the "relationship" whatever she wanted it to be. That is what I think she kept coming back to when she was with the other guys. As wonderful as they were, and the real relationships she was building with some of them, wasn't quite catching up to "imaginary" Bentley.
She has said she had no idea what he was like, or how he really felt about her, so I don't think he tells her outright that he didn't have feelings for her but maybe just didn't lay it on so thick like he had before. I think she may have realized once he was there again, what she had built up in her mind didn't match up to what was right in front of her and she came to realize she had more with JP, Ben F and maybe some others. If it goes down that way, it can redeem the last few episodes because she made the decision that he wasn't the one for her and that she had more with the guys that did stay.
I could be totally wrong but, IMO, that is the only way to reconcile the behaviour of the first 6 episodes to lead to a viable FI pick that the general viewing audience will accept. Not as a default because Bentley rejected her, but the one she developed a relationship despite Bentley.

As far as the Bentley stuff...eh! They'll either work through it and talk and talk and talk about it (as I remember Ali saying her and Roberto had to do with the Frank BS), or it will be something that they can't move on from and they'll go the way of many other couples from this franchise (however, I really, really, really want them to make it!!!)

But I agree with jjinkc - I have a feeling that's why we've seen so much of JP and his edit has been what it has been. So we can see her fall for someone else from the beginning in spite of the Bentley BS.
