Ryan is getting such a beating from edit, the guys on the show and even on this board.

He has already got 3 special roses from Ashely, the FIR, the Roast GR and the rowing date GR. Surely that should be some indication to a guy that a girl likes him?
If not, all I can call Ashley is the biggest tease this franchise has ever had the misfortune to have as their lead.
Its no wonder the guy was confused when he let go and needed his own brand of closure.

I want to know how in the world she broke the news to him on their 1-1 that she is sending him home. Girl is always fumbling up her words and say things that don't come out as planned. There is no way that he will ever see that coming after he had gotten all those special roses. There's no way.

He's going to be blindsided and that probably explains his demeanor on his vlog. He looked so downcast from his usually bubbly self.

CA- I don't believe that Ryan was sent off on his 1 on1. From the episode description it says that 2 men were set away, heart broken. So if she eliminated both Lucas and Ryan during the RC - there would have been no chance for any explanation to Ryan. She does not walk out anyone prior to the f4. Perhaps thats why he wanted his closure. I'm just guessing of course.

I do think that Ryan is definitely getting mixed messages from Ashley, whether she realizes it or not (I suspect she doesn't). On the one hand, she keeps giving him GDRs (the FIR doesn't count so much because she hardly knew him, or anyone, at the time, and I think the producers often have a big say in who gets that one anyway), but on the other hand, he is the only one left who has never had a solo date, and 3 guys will get their second before he even has his first. That has got to give him some pause, because what could possibly explain that, other than the obvious? As has been brought up here before, I think that Ash gives him the GDRs more out of guilt, that she doesn't feel "it" with him, even though she wishes she could, and maybe partly because she sees him ostracized from the other guys. A more perceptive guy might be able to pick up on some of these cues, but I don't know how perceptive Ryan really is, not to mention the crazy environment doesn't lend itself to thinking at one's insightful best.

Doesn't Ryan HAVE to be sent home from the 1 on 1? (If he indeed leaves, and I have no reason to doubt that at this point) They go on the date, there's always a rose for a 1 on 1. So she either gives him the rose (in which case, he's safe at the RC) or she doesn't (in which case, he leaves).

I suppose it's possible that he could be at the RC with a rose from the 1 on 1, and Ashley says, you know what, I changed my mind -- but I really really doubt that!

ETA: If she sends him home from the 1 on 1, and then later starts missing his attention and reassuring presence, this could explain his return. If she starts rethinking, because he's what she thinks she's supposed to want, then maybe she wants him back. Or else it's just a set up for more drama or to make him the next Bachelor. Or some mix of all of the above.

I'm still seeing her as most into JP, but it's a bit ominous (to me) that she said something like "he's the total package". Usually if a Bachelorette says that about someone, that isn't who they choose.

not at F6 - there are no rose or go dates - If Ryan leaves on his 1:1 it will be the same as Britt. There was no rose on the line for that date but Brad sent her home anyway (rumour had it, she actually broke up with Brad and they reshot it so that he dumped her instead)

usually there is no rose at stake on the group date either - yet last season and this season they threw one in. Seems to be a new protocol, just like not having a cocktail party at some point during the season.
