well, retroactively we know it wasnt happy BUT AT THE TIME, there was a possibility of a wedding.

But they came on for 1 reason only...to help in the therapy session and they knew they were coming on for that reason.

Except the wedding was going to be in Anguilla, not CA...so the other couples were there to be therapists to help Brad and Em "make" it.

I will agree to disagree unless I am totally missing your point. giggling

. Trista/Ryan and Jason/Molly won't be there or so it seems, so there isn't any need to show what a happy couple will be. The only couple there is JP/Ashley. Other that will be there are strictly former contestants/leads.

No dad or anybody else present in this scene. This is likely BEFORE dad says she can’t be in love with two people.

Mom: I know this is one of your prime things… is how they are going to react with Ricki and you’ll be able to sense that.
Emily: I don’t know if I want to introduce them to Ricki
Mom (nodding): no
Emily: and that makes it hard because what happens if I pick the wrong one? Or… you know?
Mom: I think as kind and good as both of these guys seem, they have to give Ricki time to adjust to this and not just ‘Mommy is engaged and I have a…’
Emily: … and now we’re gonna try to fit you in somewhere and figure out where your place is…
Mom: Right (PI/voice-over) Ricki is a six year old little girl and Emily s confused right now. We’re confused… and it would be confusing for a child. Again, I think the “jam session” is later when she is questioned about being in love with both guys. Then maybe… or maybe not… Arie is gone next (since we have no screencaps of a last chance date with him).

My guess is that the conversation with her mother foreshadows the following scene…

Chris Harrison: It sounds like you know what you want to do and probably need to do today.
Emily: I don't even know how to start the conversation. I don't know what to say.
Chris: Do you feel like, at this point, you're betraying both of them?
Chris voiceover: Your mind is made up here. You are done.

Chris’ final comments prompt me to believe only one guy is still standing at this point.
“Both of them” are Ricki and "?". I'll say Jef unless we've been taken for a ride all season long.
Emily doesn’t know how to start the conversation with Ricki, except she could mention “Remember when you saw somebody propose to Miss Piggy many weeks ago?” Viewers also saw the marionette storytelling of their relationship in Prague. In fact, so many of Emily's scenes with Jef, including the discussion of Kalon in London questioning if he would ever view Ricki as "baggage" and the discussion about "living together" on the library floor in Prague, were all building up to this scene.
