chacharo,
Thanks for your reasonable response to what was said.
Regarding your comments on how this whole journal thing unfolded, I am wondering what tptb might have been telling Arie after filming wrapped. Did they give him reason to believe that Emily might still be receptive or was having some doubts and might reconsider her decisions? Arie had no way what was going on with Emily. Did he even know that she was with Jef? I can see Arie being led to believe that he might have a chance with Emily if he went to Charlotte and left the journal for her. We don't know if Arie and Emily talked about it, what was said, etc.
I am sure that tptb had a hand in all this. It's too bad, but Arie was strong enough to handle it and maybe he needed that moment when Emily gave him back his journal unread. If that helps hiim to move on, then at least something good came out of it. He needs to put this behind him and go on with his life and find love in the real world.
NNY, I have always enjoyed reading your well thought-out posts.
I would be willing to bet money that the producers were feeding Arie a lot of stuff after filming wrapped. We've heard it before from other past contestants! The manipulation of the show annoys me but even more than that, I hate it that the contestants feel like these people are their friends. In reality, those "friends" are in the business of producing a highly produced reality show and are willing to twist the knife so-to-speak to get "better" t.v. I have always thought that I would feel really betrayed if I were in some of these contestant's shoes.

Honestly, this thread might as well be closed since the season is over and no one is going to convince the other side to see things differently.
Seems a little premature to me to close it, but I guess that is San or LM's call. I don't think anyone expects at this point in time to change anyone else's opinions about any of it, but they might still want to post their feelings about the finale. Lots of people are busy on the weekends and probably had to work today. I guess if some are not interested in discussing the finale further, they could skip this thread.

That does not negate in any way the clear message they have sent on this forum repeatedly about not bashing other posters. I don't get this idea of throwing the responsibility on others to divert from someone attacking other forum members. That rule has been made quite clear. They have suggested some options to help people to avoid posts that they disagree with or don't like, but nowhere have they said at any time that it is okay to bash or attack other members.

Why did you completely change your post? Just curious.

I agree. I thought it looked cold & cruel. As if she was saying "Anything you thought at the time means nothing to me. If it ever did." "I don't want to bother with your feelings."
Also, I don't feel like reading back all the pages from last night & today, but did anyone else notice the look on Arie's face when Chris asked Emily if she brought the journal with her, & to get it out? It was the classic deer-in-the-headlights look. He was shocked & petrified. I think he expected them to start reading it out loud, for more public humiliation.
I know I thought that. The first thing that went through my mind at that moment was "Oh my God! Don't you dare go there!"
The whole journal thing should have been private between the 2 of them.

I was thinking the same thing too. Poor Arie; definitely a victim of manipulation. But I feel that it was never Arie for EM and she said that to make him feel better. I believe it was Jef from the get go.
Sorry to say that EM cries crocodile tears. It will be interesting to see how her life pans out the next couple of years and to see if Jef is a keeper who doesnt bail and run.
I still feel that EM knew a lot about Jef before he went on the show through Michelle Money and still feel there was a connection. Maybe she already met him--you just never know.
I think after this show I am calling it quits. I think the show has lost any decency or credibility it may have had many years back and I don't believe anything that is said and done on these shows. It has become too rehearsed; especially Jef's responses. I am sure he is a nice guy but too may lines.

It does seem TPTB had a lot to do with it especially when thinking back to the fact that she was going to send him home at F3 but that got switched around somehow. I do feel bad for Arie that they didn't handle the journal privately but they have to know this show is notorious for turning everything around on people too. Happens in some form or fashion every year.

I think you mean, "merh," TG. He was like "merh" Actually, I think that Arie looked plain exhausted.
In all seriousness, we're never going to know if Emily didn't just so happen to drop the journal on the ground, and look! wow! the pages are open, and whoops! the cat turned the pages, and by golly!, that Safari kept turning the pages of the whole gosh-dang journal. But nope, Em never "read" it! Just like Em doesn't keep up with the boards and blogs when we KNOW that she does. Hello, Kalon In the end, she couldn't trust herself with the journal like she couldn't trust herself with Arie in the fantasy suite. Right.
In real seriousness, the matter should have been dealt with privately for everyone's sake. Bad form, ABC, bad form. Arie will be fine, and Jef and Emily look happy, so everyone, IMO, came out a winner! Except for Ryan! [I had to say it!]

How could Ryan not come out a winner when he gained you as an admirer?
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.
