I keep thinking back to her statement about not being really good at a lot of things but she knows she's a good at being a mother. With her looks and the name recognition she could probably have found some endorsement things and I don't recall any. I really do think her reasons for doing the show were legitimate. Now will it work out for her and F1? Who the heck knows but I do think he's better suited for her temperment wise than Brad.
Advancing a career in entertainment is in my view the MOST, not least, legitimate reason to do the show. People go on TV because they have something to gain by being on TV, and no one will ever persuade MOI that "find a spouse" is the reason. Sport, adventure, bromance, make out sessions, travel ... also good reasons. I always think they cry because they are being sent home from the Best Spring Break Trip Ever.

I agree. If you want an entertainment career this gives an opportunity for exposure. I also see the opportunity for a fun adventure as a reason. Got to add, that in a recent interview Brad said that it really does work, so maybe it was knowing this that brought Emily back. Who knows her first-time reasons?
The lack of an ATFR is leading me to believe there may be another story here besides Emily choosing Jef. I would think RS knows, so he will eventually share before someone scoops him again.

I totally agree. Trying to pursue or advance a career in entertainment is the most legitimate reason for doing the show. But, it doesn't have to be the only reason. I'm simply pointing out that I think over the past year Emily could probably have made some sort of move into this field had she chosen to, but she didn't. So, while I think it's stupid to go on a reality show to find a husband, maybe she didn't. I think I sort of like her (how's that for definitive) but I don't think she's the brightest bulb in the box. I do think she's relatively good at reading people but don't think she has a clue how to go about arranging for her future (if she has even figured out what that should be).
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

I did a little digging in Ashley's archived threads. On June 22, 2011 -- five weeks before the finale -- the MTA and ATFR air dates were already confirmed.jlccaz wrote:http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/bachelorette/listings/
You can see Ashley's air dates here. And if you poke around find all the old releases. I lack the attention span to do that.
June 22, 2011 -- Millsy tweets that the MTA will air the night before the finale
June 22, 2011 -- Schedule, with air dates for MTA and ATFR
Here's a tweet from earlier today:
Interesting that Cassie says scheduling is usually last minute, but MTA and ATFR were scheduled so far in advance in Ashley's season.@ARealityTVFan
@cassielambert Any updates on ATFR? Still wanting to get tickets. Time is getting close. Need to make plans. Please. :)
@cassielambert
@ARealityTVFan no updates yet. It's usually last minute. Check back next week.

It is sometimes last minute, I remember that from FORT days. There were a few who lived in the area and would commonly get an email asking if they wanted tickets, not very far in advance sometimes. My own view is that it is ratings/programming conflict related, not whether there's a happy couple or not. The producers are clever enough to make an hour of watchable programming out of just about any fact pattern, if the network pays them to create it. They are cheap as hell to produce also.

I think (when there's a studio audience) tickets are always made available fairly close to the actual date of taping. But WRT the scheduling, I'm just surprised the producers and ABC didn't figure this out sooner, especially since we know they were paying enough attention to the schedule to avoid the Olympics. This isn't their first time at the rodeo, and they managed to sort the schedule pretty quickly last season. I believe the spoiler, and agree that the scheduling issues have nothing to do with Emily and Jef's status, but the scheduling limbo is still strange to me.jlccaz wrote:It is sometimes last minute, I remember that from FORT days. Personally I would go on the show for every reason EXCEPT advancing an entertainment career. Money, adventure, experience, travel/vacation, etc

I don't know if it was discussed here after the Croatia episode when Emily sent Ryan home, but I noticed something as soon as he said it. When she was hugging him goodbye, he is repeating in a VO what he told her at the table "you're making the wrong choice" Viewers thought he was saying that at that moment, but of course he didn't say that at all when he was hugging her. I thought to myself, since they seemed to be emphasizing that phrase, that all might not be well in paradise with her F1 or she might bring Ryan back. Of course she didn't, since he was, according to RS, in Vegas judging a bikini contest last weekend.
Since Brad is being brought back in the picture by the tabloids, I don't know what to think. If true, that would mean all is not roses with F1 because she would never cheat on him, or she might not have chosen anyone at the FRC, hence RS not knowing who she chose. If that's the case, Brad would be the logical person to turn to since he has been there and been through that and she is not allowed to talk to anyone outside of the show about the ending. She may just really need his support right now & I know he would give it to her.
What concerns me, if it's true, is seeing/hearing the Bobby Bones Radio show when Brad was a guest on 5/29/12. I got the feeling that he still has feelings for Emily and Bobby Bones was playing the song "It Hurts" and called Brad on it and told him he could see something in his eyes and he thought it was hard for him (Brad) to talk about Emily. (something like that). Brad said "Man, I proposed to this woman." I just got the feeling he wasn't completely over her yet. So, if he is lending her support right now, it can't be easy for him.
On the other hand, it could all be a pack of lies and she is happily in love with her F1 and they will live happily for at least a few months. I said from the beginning when she was announced that I would be disappointed in her if she got engaged at the end because she has already been engaged twice. I was hoping she would just tell F1 that she wanted to dated IRL and see how they meshed as a family with Ricki. I thought that would be the most mature thing for her to do. Who wants to have 2 unsuccessful engagements, must less 3, Of course the first one couldn't be helped.
We'll see how it turns out, but I think Ryan's words might have been a clue to all of us about the ending.. jmo Did anyone else notice Ryan's words and think anything about it at the time? I sure did!

I noticed his words, but put them down to him being arrogant! I do not think he knew her F1 (why would she have told him, even if she knew back then!). And even IF he did know, that was so long ago that the link to what may (or not) be happening now seems very very strainuous... makes sense?
