Yeah, that part is definitely bizarre. However, given that Ashley hasn't been exposed to most of Bentley's completely crass comments, she doesn't view him the same way we do. It will all depend on what he says when he leaves the show.

If he says, you know, I came here because I thought it would be Emily. I miss my daughter too much to stay when I have to be honest and say I'm not all that into you." -- rude, yeah, but on a level of what we've seen? Nope. And maybe Ashley's reaction is more about her insecurities hitting her in the face (that the guys didn't want her). That is what she has to get past to be able to crawl out from the covers, not Bentley's defection. So when Bentley comes back in HK, presumably to apologize for how he left and the jerk he was, it would show her maturity to be very forgiving and they could come to friendly terms and leave in a good place. A peck on the lips isn't how I would handle it, but it's not totally off the charts in that scenario, either. Especially if we've been led to believe that she fell for Bentley on the show -- the quick kiss would prove to viewers that Bentley wasn't the one she wanted, even given the opportunity again. If he's sort of the personification of her insecurities, then it's symbolic -- letting Bentley go with good feelings means she's letting go of her issues, too.

Who knows... I'm just more inclined to look for a storyline structure than any truth with this show these days. Imagining these people as fiction characters makes that pretty easy...LOL

I still am having a hard time grasping where the story is going to go from here. Bentley leaves; she was supposedly crushed but she had an interest in JP. (I personally think their lines seem kind of scripted - I don't find it romantic to have a guy flip a coin and tell me I hae to kiss him if it is flipped right. And it's over a flipped coin that she may or may not have a date with him. What about "I would like to go out with you - or I would like to kiss you ..." but that's me... So she as to recover from Bentley all along not being interested in her, her making a fool of herself - and then there is JP. She seems to like him - but I can't see how he doesn't come across as second choice after Bentley leaves her. If her crying is because of Bentley - isn't she at all happy that hse has JP there ? And I don't understand how all of a sudden Ben F is going to become a believable challenge to JP. How are we going to believe that she has fallen so much for Ben F between now and the FRC ? We have been shown nothing to indicate she is interested - unless her true self is to take things slowly - get to know the person - get to establish things in common etc. This may be happening with Ben - and maybe it was not enough in the end - we shall see. She has spent so far very little time with JP - and they are seen joking - cupcakes, flipping the coin. What have they in common? Is it his in command personality - his maturity, stability that attracts her?
