Any remedies to fall asleep?
This might seem like a silly topic but I'm sure we all have those nights where we just can't sleep and we just lay there staring at the ceiling with a million thoughts in our minds. So, I figured why not share methods or remedies you guys know of to help clear our mind and fall asleep easier.

If you want chemical interference, melatonin supplements add more of it to your system. The pineal gland already releases it to regulate our sleep-wake cycles, but that's so easily disturbed by stress and obsessive or racing thoughts that sometimes the supplement helps get us back to good. Most of the side effects aren't horrendous, namely just headache. Other interesting studies report effects on the gonads :BIRTHDAYTIME:
Warm milk and honey helps too.
As does counting your blessings, such as listing five things for which you're grateful. Takes your mind off of the endless to-do list. There's also always counting sheepies or bouncing cupcakes for the Jash lovers:Dancing cupcak,
Hope those help!

I always try to think of three positive things that happened that day and say them out loud. If I'm having a bad day and can't come up with three I usually search for one then either listen to worship music, read my bible, or put pandora radio on. If all else fails I turn on Jash's season and watch a couple dates on itunes until I'm sleepy. :27:

I do a crossword puzzle or Sudoku or something like that. I am a worrier and if I don't keep my mind occupied I will just stress and worry the night away so I have some apps on my Kindle Fire that have crosswords or Sudoku that I do or if that isn't helping I read the bible or a book. I have to be careful when reading a book though because I can get so into that I don't want to put it down and then I lose out on sleep anyway...LOL

I go to the beach. In my mind of course. I love to listen to the waves hitting the shore, so in my mind I go to the beach by myself and just sit and listen to the waves. I try to see nothing else, think of nothing else but the sound of the waves. Sleep comes to shore with the waves and the worries and thoughts wash out to sea. I imagine the sun setting over the ocean and I never usually see it set completely. Good luck. Lack of sleep causes belly fat. :giggle:

Thanks for the chuckle, CarrieA~
It's stupid, but this one works for me. I just start counting backwards from 100 until I get to 90 or 85 and then I go back to 100 and do it again.
I think it's so boring, I go back to sleep!
But if I've had a bad night of sleep one night, I'll take Benadryl the next to be sure I sleep.

I have this app on my iPhone that is called Quick Sleep. It contains a list of relaxing noises that help people fall asleep. It has light rain (what I play everynight when I sleep) thunderstomrs, the beach, leaves, crickets. It is really nice.
But on those nights when there is no hope for me to fall asleep, I take Nyquil and I am OUT!

It's not the wine either. I read that stress and lack of sleep contribute to belly fat. My excuse NOT to give up the good stuff!

Many wonderful sleep-inducing CDs out there. Anyone want some titles, PM me.
