"We had three months of a functioning non-functional relationship," Korfe said. "This is a small town, and everybody knows me. She had to wait until it was dark to drive to my place, and if anyone came over she had to hide until they left." As for future plans, "we're just excited to be able to be seen in public right now," Duke said.
So they were sneaking around just like everyone suspected! giggling

The couple's big challenge after taping wrapped Dec. 18 was trying to see each other on the sly, so as not to reveal the outcome.

Maybe, it's due to being sleepy and touchy. It's just the 'they swear they are in love' stuff.

'Sweet Home Alabama' finale: Paige Duke chooses her man

Published: Friday, March 23, 2012, 9:36 PM

By Lawrence F. Specker, Press-Register

MOBILE, Alabama -- The name of the show might have been "Sweet Home Alabama," but in the end, an Alabama cowboy had to watch a Minnesota dark horse gallop away with his dream girl.

The third season of CMT's reality show, produced mostly in Baldwin County, came to an end Friday night with Paige Duke making her final decision. She'd begun the season with 22 suitors evenly divided between country and city backgrounds. By the end of the previous episode she'd send the last of the city boys home.

It had come down to Bubba Thompson, a cattleman from Geneva, Ala., and Jeremiah James Korfe, a farmer from Minnesota. Thompson, calm and confident, had swept Duke off her feet practically from their first meeting. Korfe, tongue-tied and shy, had been the wallflower in whom she sensed hidden but powerful emotion.

As the finale opened, the pressure was on Korfe to express himself, and he knew it. He came through, and his ability to bare his soul at long last made him the winner.

"There are so many things that I have felt because of you that I have never felt before," he told her. "That makes me think everything else I thought was real about being in love with someone was not really true. ... It's exciting but it's scary."

Thompson didn't make it easy, taking her on a final date that prompted her to say, "You are what's best for me, and I know that. I do. You're amazing."

When it came time for the verdict, Thompson told Duke to be quiet for a second while he looked into her eyes.

"Your eyes are beautiful, Paige, but they don't lie," he said at last. "I know your heart lies with Jeremiah and I'm okay with that. Cause what matters most is that you're happy. If your heart belongs to him that's fine ... a part of me will always love you."

He walked away with a ring in his pocket, but he stood straight. "It's a kick in the gut," he said afterward, but promised, "this ol' cowboy, he's gonna pull his hat down and he's gonna ride another day."

On location: Duke's date with Korfe took them to Double J. Whitetails lodge, a hunting retreat near Rutledge, Ala., about 50 miles due south of Montgomery. (Thompson, who has a ranch of his own, simply took her home.)

Drama: After meeting Korfe's mom and sister, Duke fretted over what they'd think when they learned about the scandal in her life. She'd lost a promotional job with NASCAR when racy photos she'd given to a former boyfriend turned up on the Internet. "It's embarrassing to me," she sobbed. "I don't want them to go home and Google me and that change their opinion of me or what they think I am."

This is reality? How did Paige and her suitors get to the rural sites of their dates? Private jet, of course.

That's what he said: During a tour of the home he'd built, Thompson told Duke: "This is the coolest spot in the house. Normally I turn this couch around and I hunt out of this window.

"Yeah," he continued as she laughed, "I've shot a lot of bucks out of that corner right there."

That's what she said: "I told myself I wasn't gonna ever let myself get hurt again, and I wasn't ever gonna take any more risks with my dreams or my heart," Duke told Korfe. "But then I met you."

The tease: CMT's spinoff, "Southern Nights" puts 10 "Sweet Home Alabama" alumni in a house in Savannah, Ga. It premieres April 7.

I have been watching this season from the beginning and adored Jeremiah from the get-go. I also thought Paige did a fantastic job as the lead. I am so happy for them!!!!!!!!! :cheerpom: laughlaughlaugh That was the best ending ever!!! (Besides having the focus on Bubba at the end... stupid ) Their final kisses were ahhh-mazing!! :girlfan
I really wish the editing would have been better this season, as this was the best love story to come out of the series. :greenman: I feel like they threw Paige and Jeremiah under the bus, just to give Bubba a stellar edit. no no Anyway, just wanted to say that I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments this season, and I'm happy there was so much Jeremiah love! I really really hope this relationship makes it! :fingersarecrossed
