Charity Lawson.
Nothing is ever final until ABC officially announces it, but from everything I’m hearing it’s going to be Charity.
I would expect this announcement to be made sometime in the next few weeks. pic.twitter.com/2jVnryDbLS
I must say I am okay with this if it is true and for the reason I won't say here in this forum.
I guess my bitterness still exist with ABC when they literally shut out Michelle's F3 from being selected as Bachelor and went with Clayton instead. This show still has a lot to learn, However I hope the Ette selection remains true, JMO.

I see Ariel getting more of an ette edit than Charity ever did imho and have no idea why they thought back on Feb 14th (date of their podcast) their reasoning behind their choice.

This is my exact sentiment.

ITA I live and grew up in a very diverse community. I have friends from all sorts of backgrounds and I love them all. There is no difference between me and them.
I have nothing against Charity. IMO when someone applies for a job it should be based on their skills. There are a lot of government jobs that have a certain % of diverse applicants that "need" to be hired. So far I haven't seen anything I like or dislike about Charity. She's just there with no impression one way or another.
When I compare her to other bachelorette's that I've had a lot of opinions about, Charity doesn't intrigue me. She hasn't said anything meaningful to me that made a lasting impression. What are they seeing in Charity to cast her as the lead? They need to meet their diversity goals? They certainly didn't do Rachel any favours when they had the opportunity to show a love story right from the beginning. Rather, they made her the worst ever for not choosing their Golden Boy at the time, which divided this forum and brought out hate like never before. jmo's.

I will say as an African American woman who barely partook in watching this franchise, when Rachael was chosen as the Bette it was a momentous occasion for many in the community. Because for us finally we got to see a lead with a background like ours to get a chance at love on a major network/show. Of course, our expectations were high, and we wanted to see a love story and expected so much more because of what it meant in the AA community to have the first AA woman as a lead. However, IMO some viewers were not really knowledgeable in how this franchise has worked for years: regardless of who the lead is, the producers focus more on drama and escapades than the Love story. This was no different with Rachael even though she was the first AA woman lead (although I am sure they made her appear worst because of her F1 choice). JMO
I also hate to say it too is how often does an AA contestant even make it to the F4? with or without a personality, to which the show has usually picked the next lead within that F6 or whatever no matter if an unpopular choice? (except for the MOC from Michaelle's season, Andrew from Katy's season, ect..).
I can't speak for the show on why if true, that they chose Charity, but I would hope she will be allowed to show a different side of herself that maybe some viewers were unable to see during Zach's season. Either way it wouldn't be the first time that a "perceived boring" lead was cast regardless of their background or likability. IMO.

IMO the lead lets go contestants they don't see a future with and to me it shouldn't matter what the colour of their skin is. That's the way I see things in life. It's worse imo when someone is kept solely for the diversity reason.
If the next ette is Charity, just like the past 19 season's I'm hopeful for a good love story and even greater sleuthing season!!
Many will disagree with me but Rachel's season was in my best top 3 most enjoyable season!! (other than what we had to deal with here) I loved the sleuthing and the love story that I clearly saw from night one.

Re: Bachelorette 20 - Charity Lawson - Potential Lead - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I agree that leads let go of those who they don't see a future with no matter of the background ( I believe Matt stated in his book or somewhere that the show wanted him to pick an AA woman in the end which to me is so wrong for the show to even try and force that! Not cool!!). I think Rachael also had the pressure from others in the AA community to pick an AA man and probably the same directed at Tayshia
To a certain extent a lead has to be open to meeting people of different backgrounds if they feel comfortable with that. IMO. I am not sure of the earlier seasons, but I am sure it took a while to see more than one or two AA contestants. But I understand if in general the lead may have not been open to that, which is also okay too. The other side of this too is that on a national level though, for a TV show on a mainstream broadcast network changes are needed to progress and be diverse so that it reflects the world. Finding love has no color barrier either.
We already know there have been problematic contestants on the show where racism has been revealed. The show I believe has a responsibility to vet the contestants better because in this world today that should not be happening at all, and even more so if a lead is diverse themselves or don't share those views. I do hope if Charity is the Bette that the producers of this show finally learn about those past mistakes and vet these contestants better so there are no issues relating to this again. It is not entertaining in the least. JMO
I look forward to the sleuthing of course for the upcoming season and hope for the best that Charity finds her person, (of course if she is the lead of choice or whoever )

I was so happy when Michelle was chosen, who was my favorite on Matt's season. It's too bad that they picked Clayton over the other great choices they had from her guys. Brandon has done very well for himself on BIP at least.
I definitely agree with you about us getting to see a different side to Charity if she is the ette. I hope that she gets a good group of men to choose from who may help bring that side out of her also.. Sometimes I think some women act different when they are in situations where they are competing agaigst other women for one man. I think some may hold back with their personality. It definitely changes IMO when you become the object of others affections and you are no longer the chaser but the chasee.....
