Re: Bachelorette 17 - Katie Thurston - July 12 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I'm back east visiting my sister and we went to a friend's house to watch. There were six of us and my friend's husband. They are mostly not spoiled totally and he glimpses the show periodically when his wife/daughter are watching. His comments were hysterical. He loved Tre, but also sooo loves Greg and thinks they are made for each other. Without prompting from me, they all thought Blake is (to be kind) full of himself, cringey and strange.

Re: Bachelorette 17 - Katie Thurston - July 12 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
This is the second time she has told Greg that she's falling for him, first time was early in the season and each time she gives him the eyes, trying to let him know he's the one. Never seen her do that to Blake. I don't know what happens between Greg and her that he doesn't end up being the F1, but for what I see right now at this point in her mind, he was going to be her F1. I was hoping for Andrew to be the F1 but seeing what I see, I don't want him to be second choice. JMO

I agree! I wish she would send Tre, Aaron and James home already.

homeiswhereweroll wrote:@GuardianAngel Do you think they are being too obvious that Blake is F1? To me is is glaring that its him, she cant control herself and is comfortable with him. But why are they showing it so strongly?
Welcome
Personally, I think it was so obvious it was Blake (their chemistry is through the roof!) that they did all they could to keep his exposure to a minimum but they have to show some of their connection.
I'm beginning to see how they ended the season a week early. We have clips of Brendan going to Katie's room (to self-eliminate?), Michael A. leaving, Greg probably leaving and possibly Andrew S. leaving. Could be that the connection with Blake is so obvious to the other guys that they all just threw in the towel?

I enjoyed last night's episode. I especially enjoyed that we had two 1-on-1s and a group date.
Yes, we've seen the wedding date before. I thought that Katie looked lovely. I was impressed by the vows that Justin wrote -- his words sounded like he had put a lot of thought and preparation into them, as opposed to being the off-the-cuff comments that they were. Justin came off last night as being smart and well-spoken, but also rather serious. I'd like to see his sense of humor emerge.
The "self-care challenge" was straight-up cringe. However it was funny that the fingers were pointed at Blake as having taken the longest showers.
The roast didn't really work as intended. I did enjoy looking at the men's faces when the drag queens were introduced. Most looked like they wanted to drop through the floor, but I appreciated Michael A.'s reaction of knowing, worldly amusement. He has a lot of life experience.
Hunter, oh, Hunter. I don't take him as the villain that the producers so badly want to portray. Yes, he's aggressive and competitive. I think the disparity in his two statements about the possibility of being in love with Katie was perhaps a product of being put on a spot in front of everyone at the roast. Hunter knows the show and wants to say what is expected. I don't think this makes him a bad guy. I think it means that he struggles with being completely authentic while cameras are staring him down.
I really enjoyed Connor B.'s 1-on-1. I loved the double date with Jason and Kaitlyn. Sometimes the simple dates work quite well. (Can I pause here to say that Jason looks amazing? That man is HAWT. The producers really missed an opportunity with not making him The Bachelor, but their loss is Kaitlyn's gain.) Loved Connor's "dad jokes." As much as Katie was giving it her best effort, it was clear that she couldn't get Connor out of the friend zone. No shade on him, and I wouldn't mind seeing him on Paradise or elsewhere. It was genuinely touching to see how well liked he was in the house.
Blake -- timing is everything. It was wonderfully romantic for him to recreate the "Say Anything" boombox scene.
The eliminations -- It looks like Katie is continuing to keep Brendan for Blake's sake. Mike P. was a bit more of a puzzler -- not that he isn't a decent guy, and I could stare into those baby blues all day, but just that they are not on the same page about religion. I'm guessing that either producers asked her to keep him on, or she simply likes him. I was sorry to see James go in particular, but I do wonder if Katie wanted to cut down on the tattling element. Season after season, the producers prod the cast members to tattle, and the cast members fall for it every time. Katie has a good group of men, and I'm at the point of the season where I hate to see any of them go home.
Katie's strongest connections appear to be with Blake and Greg. Something inside of me still expects Greg to bolt at some point in the future. We shall see.

@Amethyst
couple comments on your post above.
Justin - yes very articulate and thoughtful. He's going to make a great partner to some lucky woman in the future. Katie is not into him as much as her words lead us to think. Default F4, imo.
Greg - best line last night pertaining to the drag queen date and bringing shade: "it's the little bit of truth that makes it funny"
And Tre, bless his good heart, with his reaction to Connor being eliminated - says he's the best guy there and he felt he is in Connor's image. "If he can get eliminated, where does that put the rest of us?" (paraphrasing) Another impressive articulate man.
Am happy with the 5 eliminations as they were all matter of time guys. This is when we can see the real relationships begin. I think we're in for some tears when Michael self-eliminates. Of all the men on this season, he's a standout.
WOWO - is plain dumb. Who cares what these men do in the shower or in private? None of anyone's damn business! Far better than these guys watching porn, which I'm sure some of them have done.

I haven't had a chance to watch the entire episode yet, but what I did see I enjoyed. I think the "challenge" was meant as a joke for Blake. Watching Katie and Blake together, the way they talk/banter and joke around I can easily see Blake making some kind of comment and Katie decided to run with the idea. When Katie and Blake were talking at the after party, I think Blake was giving it right back to her with his humor.
