Someone mentioned how there was an e!news promo? It featured the roast where it showed some guys saying wishing it was emily, some people making fun of her chest size etc. Anyone know if there's a video of that floating online?

They are going to be talking about Monday's show on E News in the next few minutes. I will try to remember if we are given anything of interest.

ETA: They showed footage from the roast date. More than one guy makes a joke about wishing it wasn't her, so not just Will. A few made jokes about her small chest size. And they showed Bentley comforting Ashley as we have seen in other videos. That's all I can remember.

So the producers, knowing that insecurity was Ashley's biggest issue walking into this, create a roast to basically tear her down and attack whatever confidence she's got. Lovely. It sounds like they set her up big time with this roast. I hope as she watches this episode, she realizes that she was completely set up here. I would bet the producers even offered some "content" to roast her on. But wow, a number of them comment on thinking it was Emily or Chantal? Ouch.

Exactly - how do the guys even come out smelling like roses in a situation like this ? First off they probably had creative issues (not everyone can come up with stuff to say particularly when you barely know the person for a few days), followed by performance issues (fear of public speaking etc) and to top it all off, they have to come up with stuff that is not hurtful at a roasting ? Plus they are in a competition !

I hate to be on the other side of the fence on this issue - but it's a roast, every single roast I've ever watched is about roasting someone, that's what it is. It's not about saying nice things about someone, it's about making fun of someone at their expense. I agree that it was set up to make her deal with her insecurities (kinda like the NASCAR date for Emily) Roasts are not to be taken personally. Frankly, I think the guys were encouraged to say certain things to set up Bentley's comments and his departure.

This is no different than TPTB exploiting other past cast members fears through their dates: Chantal's fear of water(the aquarium helmet date and then the swimming with shark's dates), Ali's fear of flying, Michelle Money's fear of heights.
It's what TPTB do best...hone in on fears and insecurities to make the show. Nothing new. It will be done next season and each one after that. In fact, they will continually try to outdo themselves if possible.

What Ashley says about Bentley is completely spliced - you don't see her face for half the stuff anyway. I just watched quickly, so I'll write stuff down later, but it sounds like what she could've said before the FRC about her TRUE F1

Only thing she says is something about going to Salt Lake City with Bentley - but that could just be HTD, hopefully....

I heard the same thing -- that Ashley's comments were very spliced up. I listened to it in my earphones, and truly, this is how it sounded to me. There were hard stops in the white noise patterns around the words, and by those alone, this is how it seems edited (each line being a different VO spliced together):

My one on one with Bentley (Visual here: but she starts shaking her head, which would be opposite body language of the next line) {cut}

was so great last night {cut}

Just him coming to console me {cut}

was all I needed to feel better. {cut}

I completely fell in love with Bentley last night. {cut. This is the one I'm not sure about, but it seems a complete VO.}

There's something about him that's so sincere, I just know that he's my guy. {cut}

If it was up to me, I would grab Bentley {cut]

and take off to Salt Lake City. {cut}

(visual on her) Honestly. If it were up to me, that's what I would do. {cut} - (she looks combative here to me. Makes me wonder what she really said she'd do with Bentley. LOL)

I feel so happy. {cut}

I think I'm going to leave here with what I hope to leave here with. {cut}

Just listening for the voice variations and hard stops, it really seemed clearly spliced to me. It's not one cohesive VO on Ashley's part, IMO.

Could all of the parts I bolded be about someone else (ie:JP). Do we actually see her saying these things?

ETA: I noticed that she didn't look too upset when she was walking around on the rocks in the outfit she had on when Bentley comes to her house.

There are only two times during the Voice Over that we see her say the words:

1. My one on one with Bentley {cut}
2. Honestly. If it were up to me, that's what I would do. {cut}

In BOTH of those, her body language, tone of voice and wording are nothing like I would expect from a person in love. Personally, I think ALL of the ones you bolded were about someone else.

Then if that is the case (the underlined parts) i.e. they have taken her VOs about another man and spliced and diced for the purpose of the promos right ?

In which case, we should see her actual words tonight and then hear what Bentley has been saying about her. So either we will see if she really "fell" for Bentley early on or if it is a huge Promo job for the episode.
