Words can’t express what I’ve learned during this endurance challenge with new friends and old. So thankful to be part of this impactful community raising awareness on addiction and mental health. Please check out @releaserecoveryfoundation to learn more and donate if you can- thank you @zwclark and @justinhiding for the beautiful work that you do - I’m lucky to have you as friends. To the 4x4x48xRelease Squad - what a ride this weekend was with you animals - proud of all of us. Lastly, THANK YOU to everyone who donated, sent us bagels, burgers, pizza, and answered the texts/calls/DMs to join us for 4 miles at a time - your support was needed for every minute on or off foot. GIVE THANKS. LIVE LIFE. RELEASE

48 miles ran this weekend with over $50,000 raised for addiction recovery and mental illness support!

We all have good days and bad days, but in my opinion it’s the days spent operating with purpose that become the most memorable. This past weekend was amongst the most purposeful (and painful) miles I’ve ever put in. And with it came community, connectedness, new friendships, an untapped ability to find my motor on no sleep, and most of all, an intimate understanding of what fundraised dollars at work can do for someone who needs it badly.

48 miles run in under 48 hours while raising more than $48,000 for the @releaserecoveryfoundation. that’s a hell of a weekend.
some of the idea behind this started during a february long run where @zwclark proposed the idea of doing something crazy to push me, @exzactprice and @rwelshy12 out of our comfort zones and embrace this challenge. at first, we were hesitant but then leaned into it and embraced the sufferfest.
i’m super thankful we did because with each one of those miles there was a renewed joy in the sport as a means of bonding, educating, inspiring and fundraising with community and friends – both new and old.
already nervous for whatever ridiculous challenge clarky comes up with next...

Incredible couple of days in NYC. 48 miles in 48 hours and $48k+ raised for treatment scholarships. Definitely the most meaningful miles that I’ve ever run. It was difficult at times but the community carried us through it. Beyond the core squad, people showed up big time. They gave words of encouragement, joined for loops at all hours of the day/night, shared personal stories of how addiction and mental illness affected them personally, and much much more. Experiences like this define recovery for me. Things I can’t do alone, get done with a community lifting me up. I feel so honored to have shared this experience with a group of gifted runners and I’m grateful to Zac, Justin, and everyone at Release for making it all possible. #gogginschallenge

The Goggins Challenge - 4 miles, every 4 hours for 48 hours. Having initially participated to just capture moments during the challenge, I decided the only fair way to participate is to run with the group.
Although I cheated by missing both 3am legs to nap, I made up the miles in between a couple of the 4 hour legs. After roughly 36 hours I lost the ability to comprehend sentences. But fear not, I only needed to follow someone to run.
I’m happy that although I wasn’t thinking straight, or at all, the challenge raised roughly $50,000+ for @releaserecoveryfoundation. A foundation dedicated to helping individuals who suffer from mental illness and/or drug addiction.
Spending roughly 48 hours with a group has its side effects, namely, as @chris_j_chavez eloquently puts it, “with each one of those miles there was a renewed joy in the sport as a means of bonding, educating, inspiring and fundraising with community and friends - both new and old.”
That required a bit more brain cells than I wanted. I would simply say, what a weekend, in so many ways!

@iampawsitive for doing this.
Reading up on the Goggins Challenge, apparently the runners only sleep a max of 2 hrs at a time to keep their body biorhythms functioning. It’s classified as an extreme sport because it tests physically but even more mentally.
I hope 1 of the participants gives an interview about the experience. Maybe Chris as he has a podcast about running.
Johnny Zhang took great pics. Shout out to him.

^ Love that quote as well @notarose. Johnny Zhang losing the ability to comprehend sentences shows the mental fatigue involved! Thank you @iampawsitive for the recap.

Weekends don’t get better than this.
48 miles run throughout NYC in less than 48 hours raising more than $48k+ for @releaserecoveryfoundation . I’m honored to have been apart of the project.
To be honest, when I was first invited to participate, I was a bit doubtful in my ability to complete the 4x4x48. The physical fatigue of logging 48 miles over two days coupled with little to no sleep, I knew this would test me, but this squad carried each other & made it look easy. Much love to @zwclark for leading the charge in organizing this event and the rest of the core crew for their endless good vibes and support. I’m proud of us.

Cannot believe it. Goggins challenge complete!
To every single person that came out to cheer, run, bring food, say hi, and/or donate... I cannot thank you enough!!!!! Thank you @zwclark for including me in this once in a lifetime experience and for creating a foundation so imperative.
48 miles, over $48,000 donated towards the @releaserecoveryfoundation
I met so many incredible people these past 48 hours. My life has changed for the better love you all

We did it. 48 miles in under 48 hours. Our crew is the most inspiring group of individuals and I’m so lucky to have met them. Lead by @zwclark and his vision to raise awareness to help addicts and alcoholics get treatment. Running the 4x4x48 tested mind, body and soul. Pushing those limits, getting out of my comfort zone. This weekend was the most rewarding of my life. Raising 52k for @releaserecoveryfoundation. Getting to bond with this amazing group of people and finishing a mission that just a couple years ago would have never been possible. Anyone out there struggling, please reach out to me. Dream big. Push your limits. Take that leap of faith.
Thank you to everyone who came out to run a leg. For the food, donations and support along the way. Every text message, DM, FaceTime, phone call helped more than you know. Much love @johnny_jz the MVP
Francisco Liussi
Final Tally = 45miles and $80,000 raised for @releaserecoveryfoundation and their mission to give underprivileged people dealing with addiction issues the same fighting chance as those with means.
What a weekend. The eight others I ran with and who are tagged in these photos made this weekend so special. Complete support while dealing with enormous physical and mental stress. Along with my teammates, all of the friends and family who came out and ran legs of the event with us got me through personally. I was dead in the water by mile 16 but all the support I received pulled me through.
Now hopefully this money we all raised can help some people pull through their fight.
Special thanks to @justinhiding and @zwclark for creating the whole event
