But, that is just it @Amethyst...I don't think she really has a sense of humour. I certainly have never seen it displayed.

The whole telling them off schtick goes with her "empowerment" storyline which is cr*p. She never told JPab off...until he dumped her. She said that was a pivotal moment in her life and she changed and grew stronger then as a result, but on the show she said that she is just getting over that. That doesn't sound like she is over it. It sounds like someone wallowing in it and blaming others for her own issues.

I saw an interview with JoJo who mentions that she would have handled things differently. (Sorry I don't remember where...maybe US? Found it ... https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/jojo-fletcher-clare-crawley-should-cut-bachelorette-men-slack/ ) She says this is the guys first go at this and they are unsure of what to do and how to handle things. (I'm sure having to worry about covid also played a part.) She would have given them a bit of a chance to settle in, learn what was expected before jumping down their throats.

How Clare is acting with Dale is insane to me. I can understand that there is an attraction, but IMO she is acting like a teenager with her first crush. Certainly not like the grown a** woman she keeps professing herself to be. She is jumping him every chance she gets and not even bothering to be polite and tone it down in front of the other guys. IMO she is needy and demanding and would be hard to live with. Her saving grace might be that Dale seems to be a quiet guy and doesn't mind...at least not yet. Give them a while in real life and then we'll talk.

Sprite, I agree with you on all counts. I guess I'm *hoping* that she has a sense of humor. If so, she needs to start showing it soon.

I read the interview with JoJo. To me she is the epitome of a gracious lead. What she said made sense to me, that on the evening of the first group date, the cast members may have no idea of what to do. Some other former cast members also chimed in with the same sentiment on various podcasts, also saying that the men had been taking direction from producers all day, and were likely waiting for further direction. They simply don't have the hang of things at that point.

I also agree with how Clare is handling Dale. She can't possibly know enough about him at this point to make a call. (Other leads might have an idea at this point of the season, but they let things play out, and take every opportunity to build a relationship with their person of interest. They are also willing to change their minds if circumstances warrant.) The kittenish voice that Clare uses when she is around Dale grates on my nerves.

As for whether Clare is for Dale, that is for him to decide. Some men like very high intensity, high drama women. I've never understood that, but it's not my call to make. I certainly wish Clare well, but I'm seeing a lot of red flags thus far. My guess is that once the honeymoon phase wears off, he will get to see what his future might look like.

If you thought the first two episodes of the "Bachelorette" brought out the extremes in opinion, just wait til tomorrow's. It's going to be one of the more polarizing episodes yet with some serious stances being taken by fans on the Clare/Zach J date. Get ready.

@Sprite I believe, as posted on the October’s 27th episode thread, this is the 1 on 1 she has with Zach where he comes on strong to the point where Clare feels uncomfortable and CH steps in. Same night, just different date

I was just reading on Reddit and it was mentioned that Clare has said in interviews that in a former relationship she was abused both physically and emotionally. I know she talked about that last week on the date with Jason and I wondered if she meant physically as well. This might explain a lot of why Clare reacts the way she does around the men. I was hard on her after last episode but now her behavior makes a lot more sense. jmo

Is it me, or is this scene really choppy? It almost seems like Clare is asking how Dale is acting/saying in the house from the prospective of a competition opposed to Clare asking about him. Eg: how is he, what’s he saying about “us”...

This season, so far, seems over produced. It will be interesting to see if this is after the roast when some men target Dale and if Clare starts wondering if this is all a game to him.

@gabriele oh wow it would make a lot of sense. I was thinking they were just over producing this season. I didn’t realize the past relationship was physical as well as emotional.

I got the sense on her date with Jason last week that she meant it was physical abuse too but I wasn’t sure. I meant to ask here and then forgot about it. While I don’t enjoy watching conflict I certainly feel for her now and feel badly I was hard on her. Consciously or unconsciously, she’s probably just afraid of getting into a bad situation again and is really on edge. It sounds like tonight’s episode is going to be a bit crazy. I hope she’s able to tune out all the SM comments.
