According to Pustetto, the pair's inner circle even knew about the relationship, claiming it was a "legit thing."

“They would hang out whenever she was in Newcastle, it was a legit thing, they were sleeping together, they were going on dates. It wasn’t a secret at all, all their inner circle knew about it," the host explains.

Pustetto even goes as far as to suggest the former Bachelor star asked producers to cast Joe.

“It wasn’t a surprise at all, there was some acting involved because Elly actually requested that Joe be cast for the show," she said.

Yeah so Joe was basically her safety blanket/back-up plan.     Gotta feel for the guy a bit.  Gets a *private invitation* from the Lead to sign up, then gets passed over when she picks some other footballer dude, presumably just because she finds him hotter.

I don't actually care that they knew each other pre-show.  It's happened with plenty of other couples and AU cities are small; people living in the same area around the same age who move in the same circles are likely to have at least "crossed paths" IMO.

If she'd picked Joe I'd think maybe there was a chance of it lasting because they have similar lifestyles and presumably there was some compatibility there.  But no, Elly got greedy and went for the "superhot" guy she couldn't have gotten any other way IMO.

Joe will get a load of exposure of course (and be popular in Paradise if IG follows are anything to go by) but still, bit rude IMO.  On the flipside, Frazer will probably have dumped Elly by the time BiP airs and she'll have to watch someone else snap Joe up.

Bringing this tidbit over from your discussion on Pascal's thread, @Bobette and adding to your comment above.. is there a possibility, especially if Joe is F2, that he could be the next Bach? A bit Matty J-esque. I know the sm team said in their renewal post for Bach that they have our "most eligible bachelor yet" (what does that even mean, honestly?) coming, but could their be some movement for Joe?

@butterflylove He's definitely getting a sympathetic edit, but I don't think he's Lead material, and the way TPTB are boasting, it has to be a celeb, surely?       I'm very intrigued to see who'd got them so excited!  (and expecting to be let down  )

Please, god, no. I'm begging them. No more celebrities or someone linked to someone else from the franchise. I want a fresh face.

Oh yes me too - fresh face please!  

But knowing how TPTBs mind works, "eligible" = hot/famous IMO.  Someone like Sophie, who got them massive ratings.

I really have no clue who it could be. Someone usually in hot demand but currently out of work due to COVID, probably.
