Allegedly, a lot of women dropped out when they found out it was Locky, so I'm guessing TPTB put the call out to various alumni asking them to talk people into signing on. Happened last year with Chelsie who also had links to Georgia

Yes, I get the sense it's become more like the US franchise where it becomes about networks of people who know each other being cast. I guess to an extent it's inevitable once the show has been going for a length of time (and also Australia's population is so much smaller than the US it was probably even more inevitable it would happen here). It does mean those innocent, genuine early seasons are probably never going to come back.

I am catching up and just watched the first episode. I'm not even going into who I think he likes since you all have pretty much nailed it. I'm going on who annoyed me the most.
Areeba and her boss BS. She just wants to win.
Laura and $$ BS. She just wants to win.
Zoe and her red hair BS. OMG She just went on and on and on...and on. She thinks people discriminate against her because of her hair colour??? I think she is ragging on Areeba because of her skin colour. She wasn't b*tching about everyone else interrupting. True Areeba interrupted her, but I wonder if she would have been as idiotic about it if it had been someone else? Admittedly Areeba is an a** and Zoe was as drunk as a skunk, but still. Way too much.
I didn't mind most of the ladies and they mostly seemed like a nice, fun bunch. We shall see what I think after the second episode.

You could be the juiciest, most ripe peach, but there is still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches.

All caught up. Steph was hilarious. Way to make the best of a bad situation.
Roxi...WTH? She be crazy.
All of them over reacted to the new arrival. They basically talked to Locky twice. Get over it.
The new arrival will be one of those not here to make friends types. Nothing new.
More crazy the next episode. I have to say that I am not minding Locky as the lead. He may be a dog in real life, but he is good on camera, has a sense of humour and so far seems pretty engaged.

@Sprite Yeah I agree, IRL stuff aside, Locky is a good Lead (so far) IMO.
ETA: Unless Nadine was the Woman's Day source, that's now two sources who say they met pre-show and had an agreement.

"Mutual friends", apparently.
Admittedly this info comes from Woman's Day via DM, but we've seen similar shenannigans in the past with other Leads (eg Matty/Laura) and it fits with what I'm seeing of Bella, and how she's being presented on the show and in official media, IMO.
@Bobette Thanks for the info!
Clearly, Bella has strong connections with the Bach world, and would have been on TPTB’s radar for years, but I can’t see the same thing for Locky (he is IG friends with Dean Unglert though).
As long as there is just one anonymous tabloid source, and the info isn’t more specific, I choose to view it as a possibility, not a fact.

And she was quite insistent that Bella and Locky met in Bali (why does everything happen in Bali?) and made an arrangement for her to be F1, saying that she was 95% confident that he chose Bella, but then threw in a bit of Irena and Sportsbet to cover herself.

Agreed, Locky does nothing for me personally and I'm unimpressed by his reputation but he definitely has screen presence/charisma and makes for good TV.

The photoshoot GD was March 10, production shut down was announced March 26 (so probably actually stopped a few days earlier IMO). And they expect us to believe they got down to the Top 10 in that timeframe? Yeah nah.

After seven episodes were completed The Bachelor team came to the conclusion that due to lockdown restrictions they would need to send the crew, production staff, and the 10 final contestants’ home. While host Osher Günsberg stayed in The Bachelor mansion and Gilbert stayed in The Bachelor pad.
How did they filmed 5 episodes in 10 days??

Re: Bachelor Australia - Season 8 - Locky Gilbert - Episodes - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
They didn't, IMO! Some very creative timetabling going on here...
Could explain why the next episode appears to be just the cocktail party - they're going to drag everything out to make it LOOK like they filmed 5 episodes in ten days, when really it was probably only 2 episodes' worth of content.
IMO they must have seen the writing on the wall and didn't want the expense/hassle of zooming with a cast of 18-20 girls so chopped a bunch of them real fast - we'll probably see 2-3 go per RC and maybe even someone mid-ep.

Re: Bachelor Australia - Season 8 - Locky Gilbert - Episodes - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
Usually there are 16 episodes per series. So they filmed 7 episodes before lockdown, 2 episodes in lockdown, how to film 7 episodes after lockdown?
Yes they can have the same number of episodes but the usual 1 episode is being shown as 2 episodes.
