US is supposedly the greatest country country in the world, then why are our healthcare workers in desperate needs for PPE? I was mad but I decided to channel my anger to something more helpful.
So I donated a box of 20 n95 masks to a doctor (I bought the box back in late January when I read how bad it was in China. Never would I have thought in my wildest dream it would be worse here.) She was so appreciative and said they couldn’t have came at a better time and she plans to share with her coworkers. It brings tears to my eyes! They are the true heroes. Same as other essential workers. I just wish I could help out more.
Now I am trying to see if I can get more surgical masks to donate. My friend’s friend has ways to get them, but they are pricey, almost like a dollar apiece.

Where America Didn’t Stay Home Even as the Virus Spread
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/04/02/us/coronavirus-social-distancing.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage
Stay-at-home orders have nearly halted travel for most Americans, but people in Florida, the Southeast and other places that waited to enact such orders have continued to travel widely, potentially exposing more people as the coronavirus outbreak accelerates, according to an analysis of cellphone location data by The New York Times.
The divide in travel patterns, based on anonymous cellphone data from 15 million people, suggests that Americans in wide swaths of the West, Northeast and Midwest have complied with orders from state and local officials to stay home. Disease experts who reviewed the results say those reductions in travel — to less than a mile a day, on average, from about five miles — may be enough to sharply curb the spread of the coronavirus in those regions, at least for now.
“That’s huge,” said Aaron A. King, a University of Michigan professor who studies the ecology of infectious disease. “By any measure this is a massive change in behavior, and if we can make a similar reduction in the number of contacts we make, every indication is that we can defeat this epidemic.”
But not everybody has been staying home.

I'm making masks for family & friends but not everyone can sew. These look to be a good non-sew one that’s easy to make. Apparently, they’re even washable. They'd also make a good filter if you have a mask with a spot for it.

I've made cloth masks with velcro on the back - I put a piece of Swiffer inside the two layers of cloth. Swiffer is electrostatic and can attract small (coronavirus is 1 micron) particles. Not scientifically proven but is sound science. The Swiffer can be replaced - cut each sheet into thirds to fit inside the mask.

To bring in a different element, there will be a Global meditation happening at 7:30pm PDT or 10:30 EST TONIGHT, and the goal is to have as MANY people possible participate in any way possible, with a possible million of us in prayer or meditation, on our own but together in spirit. This goes beyond any religious beliefs and is an effort to come together to BRING MORE LIGHT in a time of need on our planet.
There are a few sites that are promoting this event and if you wish, I can give more details to whoever is interested.

@albean99 thanks for that. I am a jack of all trades, but sewing is not one of them.
I'm thinking I can make masks like the youtube out of pillow cases if I just cut squares and do the same thing. Masks are impossible to find but I've always felt from the beginning something over my mouth is better than nothing.
@Norcalgal that's a good idea too.
@Astrobach thanks for letting us know.

Tom Hanks' son, Colin also has the instructions for doing a mask out of a bandana. (Not sure how to post IG links so just putting the url here).

On another note, my neighbor's son and his fiancee came in last night. His dad told me on Thursday they were coming for a week. When I was talking to him across the yards, I mentioned that I heard they were here for a week. He said it may be longer. Apparently his roommate's girlfriend came for a visit... from New York City.
Kaleb and Emily are not thrilled at all because Kaleb's roommate didn't tell him she was coming until last minute. They don't want to be around her because she has been in NYC this whole time. So Kaleb and Emily brought the dog and are here to stay for awhile.
Oh yeah, Ohio put the 14 day quarantine into effect for any one coming into the state from another state. The only exception are those that live/work in an adjoining state. That happens all the time in Cincinnati and Toledo areas. Actually I have a friend that lives 2 miles from the Ohio-Michigan border (in Michigan) and works in Toledo. So she crosses the border every day. Her DH is retired but works part time at Costco, also in Toledo. They would be exempt from the 14 day quarantine. But Kaleb's roommate's girlfriend... nope, not exempt. She needs to be in quarantine for 14 days.

@HavaDrPepper the roommate's g/f just took it upon herself to travel with the couple for a friggn visit when there is a pandemic going on especially in NYC??
I cannot believe the number of people out and about. At this point, I'd like to see the whole North America, shut down. Get what you need for the next two weeks and stay home otherwise get fined.
They are starting to fine people in Toronto. Parks etc are closed and people are still driving around, parking their cars and strolling around.
