If they got engaged last winter (January), there may not have been sufficient time to plan a big event as Jake has to report for practice. So combining a wedding/honeymoon makes sense for them. Personally, I would at least want my immediate family there but perhaps they had reasons not to go. He is definitely an upgrade from Peter! I'm sure the is a nightmare she easily forgets.
