Meh.  Peter told Madi and Madi's mom he would 'guard and protect' her heart. There was a reason why we didn't see that part of the episode. Which was a bunch of bull.  He was guarding and protecting his own heart, period.

CH has said Hannah Ann showed her backbone in the end.  IMO if she really wanted to show her backbone she would refuse an engagement and suggest that they date.  But I'm sure she didn't want to get on the bad side of TPTB for future opportunities.  And, IMO, when the engagement was broken off I would guess that she thought she was a shoe in for the next lead.

Agree @HavaDrPepper. We've seen this entire season how indecisive Peter is and easy to manipulate (just look at him with Victoria F) and how much he wants to please people. He would've been the producers dream as a lead. You can see how much Peter wanted to have his feelings reciprocated and IMO he couldn't even discern between someone genuinely being in love with him or just telling him what he wanted to hear. As long as you affirmed him, he believed you. IMO I think HA massively overstated her own feelings, I don't think in her words Peter's love is what stengthened her every day. HA said in the preview that she just wanted to feel chosen. Since it seems she realized at the time before the engagement that Peter was very much in love with Madi (and that she's his default choice), I'm sure that's only been further confirmed watching this season back.

I think for production, Madi was seen as someone in the way of what they wanted (a HA and Peter engagement). They manipulated the situation even more until she was hanging by a thread and eventually broke (and they got her on the first plane out of there). All JMO.

Really, when you look at this does this look like a guy IN LOVE and READY TO PROPOSE? I think not, the inner turmoil is visible on his pained expressions and if you watch slowly, he shakes his head in ‘ negation’ of what his words are saying, when he talks about ‘ choosing her everyday’.
I agree with both your comments - @cheriee and @HavaDrPepper  and see it as an unfortunate’ perfect storm’ of the Lead being too ‘ nice guy’  and indecisive and major interference with TPTB coupled with a girl who didn’t want to follow the directives given to her, and another who was too thirsty to let go at any point even if it meant having her heart broken on TV.

I have seen the same with so many leads with their F2. They all cry rivers and few hours later they are on cloud nine

Nope. I don't think any of these people deserve it. Nobody deserves to be treated like that by anyone.  Many of the contestants this season were used and abused by TPTB not just these 3.  These 3 individuals just made it to the end of filming.  Oddly enough the one person that could have used a not so nice edit was the one that didn't get it.  IMO Preferential treatment because they want her in Mexico.

I do agree that he needed a wake up call and I really hope this was it.  He also needs to move away from mom, the farther the better.  With that being said, even if a relationship with Hannah Ann would have continued, mom would be meddling in the relationship all the time with her moving to LA and I'm positive it wouldn't survive it at all.
