Bachelor Summer Games - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

It hasn't been confirmed that I know of, but we'll get a head start on a thread as there is possible sleuthing speculation in the Aussie threads for some of their former contestants possibly being on Summer Games.

Fans of The Bachelor franchise could be getting a bonus spinoff series this summer. Blogger Reality Steve shared some scoop on Friday regarding what he is hearing and it sounds like ABC is gearing up to take advantage of the buzz over the upcoming Summer Olympics much as the network did with the Winter Olympics in 2018.

Summer Games will air after The Bachelorette ends and before Bachelor in Paradise starts, Mills said. This year's Summer Olympics last from July 24 to August 9, so presumably it will be sometime in there.

The ette ends around the beginning of August. So if BIP starts around the beginning, archived threads 1st epi last season was August 5th, does this mean BIP gets pushed back?

The Bachelor and Winter Games aired at the same time.  Bachelor was on Monday nights, Winter Games was on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  There were 4 episodes (2/13, 2/15, 2/20 and 2/22) and the "tell all" episode which aired on 2/22 following episode #4 (per Futon Critic).

They will probably do the same thing this summer. 'Ette will air on Monday nights with Summer Games airing on Tuesdays and Thursday during the July 24 to August 9 period.  I fully expect BIP to air in its regularly schedule time period following the 'Ette.

I do believe I posted the previous schedules from The Futon Critic in a thread here somewhere and showed how all these shows will fall on ABC's programming from March to September.

With how this season has gone, and me being uninterested in The Bachelorette for the second consecutive year, and thus not being particularly interested in BIP because of what I've just said - I really don't want Summer Games to be dating based. 4 shows is just too much.

What I would enjoy and watch the heck out of, is if they have past leads (Nick, Colton, Sean, Rachel, Kaitlyn), or couples! (think Ashley & Jared, Rachel & Bryan, Colton & Cassie, Jojo & Jordan etc.).

This franchise is based on dating.  No way summer games is not going to have some of that aspect to it.  More than likely it will be the same format as winter games only summer sports being utilized.

As for the couples you mentioned, I just do not see JoJo/Jordan doing it if that would be the format.  This is being filmed the end of May and their wedding is suspected to be in May/June time period.

(SPOILER): I’m sure ABC will make it official soon, but “Summer Games” I’m hearing is cancelled due to the coronavirus. With international contestants on the show, it’s too risky and they don’t want to take a chance.

It was supposed to be a lead up show to Olympics. Hopefully they will just do it next year when Olympics is rescheduled.

It would have been airing at the same time as the Olympics just like Winter Games did. Alternative programming for those that have no interest in watching Olympics (me!)

So there is no need to film anything this year. They can just do it next year instead.
