Episode 10

We begin with a flashback of Angie bemoaning the fact that she got Ali’s sloppy seconds in Ryan while Alex sniggers and pretends he wasn’t the one who asked the question. Cheeky boy.



Hometowns:


Timm



Angie says Timm is weird and wonderful and addictive, with a big heart.  Her hesitation is whether he's ready for a relationship.  I think maybe that’s a question she should be asking herself but we’re only 5 minutes in so I’ll try to keep my snark under control... for now.

Timm says he’s a “café enthusiast” (classic Melb boy).  He’s invited every man and his dog to meet Angie, including his friend’s mother, who’s name he has tattooed on his a**.  He also appears to have a camel toe and I now want to know the story behind that one.



Timm introduces Angie to his parents who seem to be regular sized humans so I don’t know how they ended up with a giant for a son.  Good nutrition?  Tracey of the Butt Tattoo fame asks what makes Timm special and Angie says she feels most herself around him.

Best friend Jackson is clearly there to stir the pot and does it well.  Anyone going on a reality show needs to have a friend like Jackson who’s willing to make himself look like a serial killer on TV.  Jackson says Timm’s a party boy and Angie pretends to be surprised.



Timm explains that when you live with two other boys, parties will happen, but not all the time.  He says he was in a five year relationship which is a bit of a surprise TBH and I wonder why we haven’t sleuthed her before now!  He’s all in, they kiss and she leaves.  




Ryan



Ryan turns up with a dog.  SMART MOVE.  Angie asks him about applying for Ali’s season and he says he was approached.  Hmmmm… not sure I buy that.  She then says “he didn’t actually know it was her season”.  I get the distinct feeling Ms Kent does not like Ali.



Later, Ryan chats to his brothers while they BBQ about $1000 worth of lobster.  His brothers back Ryan and reassure Angie that he’s a “good dude”, and she says she’s putting her doubts about him to bed.  This HTD wasn’t as bad as I expected and they look pretty cosy IMO.




Jackson



Jackson says he realises he’s the underdog at this point.  He presents Angie with a gluten free vegan pie and in exchange gets a 6-minute advertising spot for his family business.  Well played.  Later, at the Garlick mega mansion family home,  Dad grills Angie.



He basically accuses Angie of being a freeloader and says Jackson won't have time for her.  Judging by the pics I’ve seen of Jackson partying with various chicks lately, I suspect time management in that area is not something he struggles with.  But anyway, she leaves; no kiss.




Carlin



Carlin takes Angie to the gym where he works.  How many free advertising spots is that now this episode?  I’ve lost count.   Angie gets a ride on a piece of equipment and does zero exercise.  She says she enjoyed it but I doubt she will be making any return visits.



Angie meets Carlin’s brother and SIL and says it’s all going swimmingly and “surely nothing can go wrong”.  Is that an ominous crack of thunder I hear in the background?  Things start to go downhill when his brother takes her for a chat with BARE FEET.



Angie mentions that Jamie said Carlin was only there for his TV/acting career and says, “so ha ha, I bet you’re going to tell me that’s so out of character… right?"  But NOPE!  Bro pretty much says “YEP!  Spot on sister”.  Angie’s face is priceless.



Angie says Carlin told her he’s “dabbled” in acting and his brother pretty much says, “Yeah, nah that’s a lie”.  Wow.  Had I known Carlin’s own brother was going to rag on him like this I could have saved myself a lot of time and about 40 snarky posts this season.  

That said, this whole segment seems super scripted to me.  Either that or his brother is just really clueless.  He says Carlin went on the show for fame and that he’s “shocked” it seems like they have a genuine relationship.  I mean who would say that, honestly…

Anyway they then go outside and have a spat.  Carlin’s very defensive.  “Acting is not really a big deal in my life”, says the guy with his own fan page.  He seems really agro and isn’t exactly reassuring.  Ughh it’s all very uncomfortable to watch.  Angie leaves; no kiss.



RC.  Timm’s been treated to a deep hair conditioning.  Jackson goes home, but he probably saw that coming earlier in the day when the photographer asked him to step out of the pics leaving the other three.  He pretends to be gutted but I think he’ll be just fine.  



Oh and I can’t help but notice that in the preview for next week, Carlin’s wearing a knitted cardigan so you know what that means – nice guy redemption edit episode ahoy!

First post here, hello to all
So my thoughts... I will go in points

Tim & Angie:

1. Didn't Ciarran say in some interview he has never had a gf? Something doesn't add up here. 5 years relationship? Maybe with Jackson? As I scrolled through Jackson's IG, they have been partying hard for the last 10 years. No sign of a girl. Any! And the pics are pretty uncensored.

2. Angie is condescending towards Timm and treats him like a place holder. It flatters her that at least one guy is there and quite infatuated with her, actually. I like Timm with quirks, constant talking & ADHD and all. She doesn't. She acts as if she was his mother and I almost can hear annoyance in her voice sometimes, espacially on the "fancy" date. Her behavior made me dislike her.
She was expecting him to act in a certain way and didn't help him in any way to relax. She was sitting there, pouting, staring at him with annoyance, constantly touching up her hair and looking pretty(she is so insecure about her looks..) expecting him to entertain her. But he is there too and his discomfort is as important as hers. That was the first time I saw a judgemental, selfish, high-maintancance Angie who always wants get her way. This is a glimpse of the authentic Angie, she is not an easy-going girl next door. Maybe when it comes to looks, not personality-wise.

ANGIE&JACKSON

1. He has no feelings for her. Clearly he wanted an out.
2. His father had every right to express his stance and I respect his values. I am also a gypsy, like Angie, but I am mature enough to admit that I do not have the same values (some people live to work, literally and have a crazy work ethic etc.) as my father (he is similar to Jackson's father). The truth is that I think life should not be hard and I want to enjoy my time on the Earth and career is not my priority to the same degree. I don't want to put in 13 hours a day. Angie should admit it instead of claiming she worked her azz off. Before the gig she was a nanny in London, a dog sitter, a caregiver and she went back home to be with her family. Sorry girl, you are simply not such a hardcore worker as Jackson's father, period. And I am not saying it is bad. You are two different people, don't be so sensitive about it.
3. Angie as a gluten intolerant diva: "the first time he wanted to kill me with a meat pie! Now he made an effort and it was so great!" yes, sure. You almost died looking at that pie. Get over yourself, lady...

I really liked her until this week's episodes. She is surely accustomed to being in front of cameras and her easy-going persona is a mask. She is so uptight and high-maintancance... All the plastic surgery and lip fillers and tons of eyelashes.. Even talking to Carlin she was mostly preoccupied with her fake lashes getting messy (she didn't want to ruin her makeup crying in front of the camera), not the conversation. I completely changed my opinion on her and it was the first Aussie b-tte I watched and I adored a messy, approachable Angie. I didn't know her before but now I know it is an act. She really has to get over herself. Is she famous in Australia?

And great post! I haven’t seen as far as those last 2 episodes but have started to see the side of Angie that you’re alluding about and that some of the guys also complained or at least commented about after their exit.
She seems to be very easy going, tolerant and open minded but the next minute she is cold and judgmental and detached emotionally from the men who are opening up to her. It’s a very weird mix, like she’s, as you said, @Azzurra , a girl next door type, except she is kinda bitchy and demanding at the same time. Yesterday I wrote a whole paragraph about my thoughts on her apparent lacking of the feminine qualities that would make her more endearing and attractive to the guys and allow her to really fall for someone.
There is a reason she has admitted to never fall in love yet, IMO it’s a fear of letting go of some control, she is a proud independent woman and is afraid to really lose that independence for a man .

My perception of Angie has also changed. After watching her on TV for years I thought I had a pretty good idea of who she was but I think I was conflating her with Yvie and not seeing her as an individual.

Like you say, she is actually quite high maintenance IMO and I now wonder if she wants someone who can make her laugh and not take life too seriously because her natural tendency is to do the opposite.

Hello Ladies, thank you for your warm welcome! I am reading your posts now and you made similar points. So we are all disappointed. There is nothing wrong with being high maintenance but own it, dammit! And by the way, I am sorry to say it but no matter how much makeup she is wearing, she still is not beautiful enough to back it up. That is the reality.... Guys won't put up with that. Timm maybe because he actually fell for her. And she is going to obviously toss him. So sad.

I agree! And to be honest, independence is only a bit better than dépendance. How about finding the middle ground? Like.. Interdependence? It is a sign of weakness to me to be so self-conscious and afraid to let go. I think she is indeed a weird mix as you said. I think she is veeery insecure about her looks, don't you agree? Still not confident enough to believe somebody like Carlin/Ryan would actually be there for the right reasons. As if she wasn't convinced she is worth it after all.
