Bachelorette Australia - Angie Kent - Season 5 - Episodes - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

Just caught up on last night's ep and what a corker!!! I don't remember laughing out loud at this show before (maybe early Matty J on Gerogia's season, was not a fan of his own season), but so many 's!!!

Timm: “I can’t wait to see Angie but, I can’t find Angie”

Angie: (Re: the tree teeming with cockatoos) They’re like a choir.  A choir of a**^oles”  


And Yvie is hilarious. The whole Yvie and Angie debrief about Carlin was GOLD.

I'm getting the same vibes as you @sprout and @LeapofFaith, after finally seeing Angie and Timm 1:1 - Timm is such a beautiful, random, kid. He DOES fit the hilarious and quirky brief. Yet I can see exactly what Angie said twice even after their date - that she still doesn't quite know what she thinks/feels about Timm in a romantic way. I think he just wasn't quite hitting the mark for her for 'her man', but she adores/ed him.
Something obviously happens to flatten her excitement about Ryan out, so then there's Carlin, who she clearly has her eye on and she has raised a few times 'maybe she needs someone calmer/grounding' in reference to Carlin, so early justifying/exploring the lack of fit with what she says/thinks she wants, because she's just genuinely keen. I think that might be where it all lands - she picked him because of genuine preference, and he's not in many ways what she thought she wanted, but she's drawn to him (and no doubt we will see much more of his good qualities to help explain why).
As for whether it's working out in the real world, for all the reasons a few of us have been baffled, and Yvie picked up on etc. etc. ...guess we will see.

Episode 4, Part A

We open with a totally-not-scripted convo between the boys at the mansion.  Some of them can barely contain their giggles as they tell Jamie that he's a very naughty boy for breaking the bro code and they're just so annoyed with him. 

Names are read out for the Bachelorette Party GD and of course they leave Jamie till last.  The boys deck themselves out in the appropriate attire and I wonder how many Elton Johns had to die to make these outfits.



Yvie pulls up in a hot pink stretch Hummer and Matty recognises her from Gogglebox.  They play a quick Gogglebox highlights package which surprises me considering all the rumours that relations between the producers are a tad frosty.

Yvie musters the boys into her bogan chariot and as Ryan passes she RUBS HIS ARM and mouths "how are you?".  She clearly knows who he is and I wonder if they've met before.  He was definitely scouted to appear on the show IMO.  



Jesse asks Yvie what Angie's looking for and she turns to Ryan and says "her type is pretty much you" followed by a Kermit-style "...but that's none of my business" sip of champers.    As if the guy didn't have a big enough target on his back.



Angie is waiting with Osher and says she doesn't know what's happening despite the fact that "I'm usually the one in charge of group dates."   Yeah SURE you are.  Anyway Yvie arrives with the boys and Angie's thrilled and it's all very sweet.



For reasons unclear, this bachelorette party is going to involve a life drawing class.   They ask for a model and Ciarran's hand shoots up.  Angie says "I'm so excited for the life drawing; I can't believe Ciarran is going to proper nude up".    

He does, and it is the best thing I have ever seen a contestant do in my entire time watching this show.  Kudos.  He blushes from head to toe but Angie is impressed, the boys toast him and the producers must have been beside themselves with glee.



Yvie takes Ryan off for a chat.  He says he feels like Angie is the girl version of him, they have identical interests, and he wants to get to know her better.  Yvie says he gave her a lot of good information, he's good on paper, and she hopes it follows through.

Next on the couch it's Ciarran and Yvie can barely keep her eyes in their sockets.  I feel she might be asking for his number when she finds out he's not F1.  Better yet, maybe TPTB could give Yvie a wildcard entry to Paradise and let her take her pick.  



So then Yvie and Angie go off for a girly chat and Yvie's first question is "have you kissed anyone" which is exactly what I would want to know too.    Angie asks who was the person you most got a vibe from and Yvie says Ciarran without hesitation.



Angie says she likes him, she thinks there's more to him than just being a lad and they've had proper chats.  She then asks Yvie who her favourite is out of all of them and without hesitation she says Ryan and that on paper, he's got it all.

Angie says she hasn't spent a lot of time with him and I'm thinking this is foreshadowing him getting the ep 5 SD.  She says she likes Carlin and he's nice.  There's that word again!  Angie says "he's very serious... well... he's a bit funny." Yvie makes this face:



Which I interpret as "is he though...?"  Wow Yvie doesn't hold back!  She says "what, like 2% funny? He looked at something once and he laughed?"  She does not see him as right for Angie IMO.  It's surprising to me that they aired her bagging the F1 like this.

Yvie deadpan asks "do you think you could go out with a guy with a made up name like Carlin"?   Then she makes fun of his name some more and Angie cracks up!  What on earth is gong on here?!  It's so weird for them to be framing an F1 like this IMO.

Whatever the case, that segment was the bomb.

Episode 4, Part B

Morning has broken and we're at Centennial Park with Timm of the many mmm's.  He's wandering around looking for Angie and in a cutaway he says he wants to show her he's more than just a jokester and he's nervous.  They somehow manage to make a 7 foot tall man look like a 4 year old who's lost his mum.



He brings a sunflower (of course!) and we flash back to their meeting on the red carpet, signs from Nanna, yak yak yak WE GET IT.  There are huge inconsistencies with Angies cutaways regarding Timm.  I'll take this up on the SC thread later but just like Carlin, this shows extensive re-working of his narrative IMO.

Long hair (shot post show, IMO)



Frizzy hair, shorter around the face (shot at the time IMO:)



Back at the park, the kids are eating gelato and having a ball.  She says (with SHORT hair):  "He's such a weirdo.  I'm a weirdo.  I love a weirdo.  I just dig it.  I dig the vibe." Then (with LONG hair): I just have to work out if it's the kind of crazy that's going to drive me crazy, or if he's going to have me crazy in love."  



The evening portion of their date is an outdoor cinema.  Angie says she's got some home movies/slides of TIMM to show.  SHE'S BEEN SLEUTHING HIM! This is such an intimate date IMO. "He makes me laugh so much I almost cry". Just try to convince me this wasn't expected to be F1s first date.  YOU CAN'T.



Timm talks about his family while he gently strokes the back of her neck.  Angie says "we share the same beliefs on life and family, and there is so much more to him than meets the eye." It starts to rain and they keep chatting and they're talking over each other and it feels genuine and I'm sold.  Then he goes off to pee.



Angie finds it hilarious and when he gets back she moves so close to him on the couch she's practically on his lap.  *Note to self - compare to couch scene with Carlin* She can't stop touching him, she says it was the perfect date and it's the most comfortable she's felt in a long time.  It feels like a fork situation and yet apparently not.  WHY?



CP.  The boys are looking schmick. Ciarran is an absolute sass factory and I think I feel a change of avatar coming on.  Well done hair and wardrobe you have really outdone yourselves.  Angie says she doesn't recognise him wearing clothes and he says he can take them off again for her later if she wants.  



Ryan grabs Angie for a chat and she reverts to a giggling fangirl again.  Jamie comes up and wants to have a conversational three-way.  You wot m8?  Angie says it's creepy and she's not wrong.  It's all a bit bizarre and inside the mansion the boys are cacking themselves laughing.  Jamie is an odd duck to be sure.



Timm takes Angie for a chat and she absent mindedly starts fiddling with his plaits.  The guys are intimidated and suddenly see Timm as a threat.  Timm tells Angie she's beautiful and he's frothing her.    They kiss and he looks completely smitten.  Timm's all in and he's going to be a mess at the FRC IMO.  

 

RC and we see everyone's outfits in their full glory.  Ciarran looks like a 1400 year old vampire leading a coven of young gents.  Jamie spells out the main threats - Timm, Ryan and Carlin.  Called that a few episodes ago but thanks for pointing us in the right direction.   Niranga and Jesse peace out.



Preview for next episode and it's Tom, Alex, Glenn, Timm, Scot, Ciarran, Jackson and Adam on the GD leaving Ryan with the SD, IMO.  Angie's face tells me I am probably not going to enjoy this segment at all.  The second hand embarrassment is real.  Oh and here's Ryan's date, so lock Ciarran in for ep 6 and potential walkout ep 7, IMO.

So am I correct in thinking Carlin doesn’t get a date next episode. Not a GD or SD. Is it common for a F1 to have a full episode date free? I would assume the potential F1 would be on every single GD (when not on a SD)‍�‍�

@Kas_256 Yes IA - no Carlin next ep IMO, meaning I think Timm will be the only person to have either a GD or SD every episode up to ep 6. I put together a possible schedule of eliminations for the remaining eps on the SC thread but it's just a guess.

ETA:  Checked the wiki and yes Timm is the only one to have been on some kind of date every episode.  Carlin was completely absent ep 3 and it looks like ep 5 as well.  Make of that what you will but IMO it clearly shows who her early favourite was.

He definitely has just been a heavy weed smoker for the past ten years. Not that that should matter at all - he is a delightful person. I have several stoner friends and can recognise the behaviour instantly .

I am just flat out in denial. Finally they choose some different, lovable, cool people to go on this show and Australia loves Timm and Ciarran. Why are they editing Carlin to make him look so boring if he is F1?? This season does not make sense at all, Bobette's theories are completely correct IMO and I would love to know what happens.

@Vjeff Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking too re: Timm. IMO his strung out vibe episode 3 may have been a combination of the mansion being a non-smoking house and having an open bar.  

It's very interesting to me that they didn't air his collapse - as @Dirty Street Pie suggested upthread, that seems to be something they would do to protect someone they thought was going to be F1.  

And meanwhile they are showing the Lead laughing while her best friend says she doesn't think F1 is funny and teases him about his name.  Nothing will convince me that Carlin was her first choice.

Reading The Bachelorette Facebook comments most (but not all) people like Ciarran and Timm. And the majority of these people do not believe either are suited to Angie for her happily ever after.
Ciarran is believed to self-eliminate so he decides he wants out. If Angie loved him IMO she would've whispered in his ear (or the producers would've) to entice him to stay. Or Angie could've chosen no one and pursued their relationship outside the "Batch bubble".
As for Timm, he is believed to be one of Angie's final 2. If she loved him she would've chosen him. But she didn't.
IMO what happened was Angie fell in love with Carlin. She is a strong woman who knows her own mind. I think Carlin is being hidden purely for the shock factor ending Personally I am looking forward to their "hot" date when Angie rubs sunscreen on Carlins very toned body.

I saw that exchange between Angie and Yvie differently. There was a lot of playful banter and IMO, Angie was defending Carlin to her friend under the guise of humour. I think Angie already knew she liked Carlin a lot and knew that he would not have been the person that Yvie would’ve thought Angie would be most interested in...but you can’t help who you are attracted to. Angie told Yvie to stop being a ‘mole’ when Angie was making fun of Carlin - that’s some major defending for someone Angie supposedly was not interested in! I’m adamant that Angie was already feeling strongly for Carlin at this stage and was trying to justify being attracted to someone who was not who she thought she wanted. Also, I think she may have really wanted it to work with Timm with the whole sunflower sign but her heart wanted something else entirely. JMO.
