I think Tyler meant what he said about Luke. From what we know, his football dreams ended and he had to switch careers and Dad's health problems and him having to deal with that and return to help with the family business happened in the last couple years.

Tyler, you are only two years older.    

In those two years his dad got really sick, he moved home and took care of the family business, helped support his younger brothers, was responsible for signing away his dad’s healthcare rights.... sooooo....

Tyler is a really mature 26 year old, imo. On and off the show.
