I suspect it was tptb. Can you imagine how the rest of the season would be without him? Like the group date where everyone was enjoying themselves and having fun. They can't have that. They would think it's boring whereas I would really love it.

Dang....they broke the fourth wall & showed Hannah talking to producers Bill D & Samantha T. Producers telling her “you need to talk to him” was unreal.

Maybe she thought she was being compassionate - give him an opportunity to stay awhile longer and show a better side with the guys. She said in an interview she started off with Colton trying to be her version of perfect but later just threw that out and started being herself. Long shot - she’s giving Luke time to turn himself around.
I do think she genuinely liked him in the beginning.

This is what confuses me. Hannah seems so wary of him, no excitement to be around him, every time they talk there’s conflict, but he makes it all the way to FS. It feels like she just spends the entire season trying to rekindle the spark from night 1.

Exactly! As a communications major wouldn't she have taken Psych 101 and be able to recognize that? Or even just communicate more effectively what deficits she saw in him?
