Back at the house the girls are discussing Chelsea being on the date and Abbie's voice is BUTCHERED to frankenbyte this line together:
"I dOn't THinK thEy HaVE AnY cHemISTry" (34:35 on the Bach archive file if anyone wants to re-listen - it's an absolute dog's breakfast.)
There is no way she actually said that sentence IMO. Shame on you audio editors, this girl is probably hated now because of your handiwork.
Oh my God now they're doing it again. Every single word in "I can't imagine her being Matt's type" is spliced in from a separate speech IMO.
...snipped
OK I'm just going to say it: I think Abbie is being thrown under the bus as a sacrificial hated F2 for the purpose of a guaranteed happy audience at the end.
I didn't see a single one of those bitchy comments about Chelsea come out of Abbie's mouth on camera - they were all constructed in the editing suite IMO.
It's a shame because Chelsea seems like such a good match for Matt, they didn't need to do it IMO. I guess after last year's fiascos they wanted to make sure.
All I can say is I hope Abbie was paid well for her role - they'd have practically zero material without her - and I hope she comes out of it OK at the end.
brownravens wrote:@Bobette Also on your other point about abbie's franken-soundbites. IA that Abbie may not have said all of those negative about Chelsie in that context because I rewatched the episode and there's few of the extremely mean comments from the episode directly to camera. But I think she said those things maybe about other girls.
I think Abbie is delusional and has zero self awareness and doesn't think ahead about the consequences of her actions. Like if your behaviour/words directly send a girl home, the others will be (rightly) wary of you.
Dirty Street Pie wrote:As Monique loved to remind us, Abbie is only 23! ITA with @brownravens that she wants to be known, and hasn’t fully considered that not all publicity is good publicity
I also agree that a lot of frankenbiting, and playing things out of context has also been done. The frankenbiting can’t be helped because production will slice and dice as they want, but if you don’t say it, they can’t use it.
Abbie will come out of this fine, she’ll be the Queen of Paradise with everyone lusting after her, and will probably enter into a short lived relationship that will be over by the time the show hits the air, and do the magazine circuit with what went wrong, all by the time she’s just 24

Re: The bold I agree to an extent, but when they're dissecting your speech and using individual words to fabricate sentences you didn't say that's another thing entirely IMO. I don't think she could have avoided saying the words "I", "don't" "think" "they" "have" "any" or "chemistry" for 12 weeks.

And fair enough for her to delete that sort of thing. I'll never understand why people feel the need to post horrible messages to the contestants, it's just a highly edited TV show, if they're so worked up that they decide to abuse someone they've never met they should take a long hard look at themselves
It's probably going to get worse for her as the show continues, she may just need to close comments like Cat did for a while last year, although that doesn't stop DM's, her sister posted screenshots of some horrible messages she'd received. Nobody deserves that.
Sundy wrote:@Dirty Street Pie completely agree with your comments. Cass and Brittany suffered terribly last year as well
Missnair wrote:@Dirty Street Pie absolutely correct. No one deserves that. Someone the comments were seriously bad. The contestants definitely weren’t aware about the editing and they must have had no idea that it would make them look totally opposite of their personalities!

'How she's being treated breaks my heart': Abbie Chatfield's sister speaks out after she was edited as the 'villain' on The Bachelor - and claims she 'is not allowed to defend herself'
Abbie Chatfield was branded a 'complete fake' by rival Sogand Mohtat on Thursday's episode of The Bachelor.
And after being accused of 'lying' to Matt Agnew about her views on marriage, Abbie's sister Jolie Chatfield has defended her on Instagram.
Jolie claimed on Thursday that Abbie is a 'genuine' person but has been banned from defending herself in interviews or on social media.
'Abbie's not allowed to defend herself... so I wanted an explanation out in the universe,' Jolie wrote in her lengthy post.
'I love my sister so much, watching how she's being treated (and edited) breaks my goddamn heart because I know how genuine she is.'
Jolie went on to reveal that Abbie, 23, struggled to trust anyone on set, and insisted that her views on marriage 'are not contradictory'.
Jolie explained: 'We have talked at length about how the institution of marriage stems from a pretty backwards patriarchal idea of woman-as-chattel and also just in general how we see weddings as a waste of money.
'Marriage is something you do because you have found someone you truly love, not just because it's something you have planned in your "timeline".
'Either way though, your opinions of marriage change when you meet someone you truly, truly want to spend your life with, so it's insane to me how much weight is being put on this.'

As I say every season when the “villains” edit is ramped up, you don’t get to go on a reality show and then complain about your edit. Reality TV has been around long enough that there is no excuse not to know that there will be a villain, a sweetheart and a kooky one, AND YOU DON’T GET TO CHOOSE WHAT YOU ARE!
If you want the benefits of being on a reality show, ummmmm, Instafame, and not much else, you have to be prepared for the negatives. Abbie isolated herself initially by insisting that she wouldn’t kiss him, and then coming back and bragging about it. If she hadn’t of made a big deal about it, it wouldn’t have been a big deal.
TPTB are going to make her their villain now, she’ll get some sympathy as long as Sogand keeps railroading her, but as soon as Sogand is gone IMO Abbie will be presented as very over confident and smug, Chelsie will be nervous and insecure and slow to open up, and by the FRC everyone apart from Abbie’s sister will be backing Chelsie for the win.

A cautionary tale to be sure @Dirty Street Pie. Signing up for this show is like playing Russian Roulette as far as edit goes.

If we had any doubt that Abbie wasn’t F1, the way her sister is going on would dispel it. Winners are grinners, and don’t need to complain about their edit in the media.

As far as Abbie goes, I just really want to fast forward to Bach in Paradise. I don't really even feel like I know her yet with all the choppy editing. I look forward to seeing her speak full sentences from her actual mouth and being able to chill on the beach with a cocktail, rather than performing and being "on" all the time, which is how I feel she was being produced/directed in the mansion.
