He wanted Brooke, he picked Brit. When the show was over and no more cameras and crew, reality kicked in and he found that he was not in love with Brit.... he was in love with the IDEA of perfect life with her.

I'm sorry, but if he had wanted her he would have made sure she stayed. Other leads in the past have done the same for their F1. They find ways to reassure them. Despite the fact that he liked her, admired, respected and even was attracted to, she was not the one he wanted. He knew it and so did she. Whether he stays with his F1 long term or not, has nothing to do with it. Brooke was not the one that he was the most into. IMO she clearly is the one producers are salivating over, but not Nick.

Yeah Brooke left way too easily. If she was the F1, producers would have intercepted the car and nick wouldve done a lot more to keep her there.

Nick told Brit on their second date 'Know that I won't forget what we have' this imo is the best he could do in this format to reassure her about his feelings and intentions. (Brit's 'trust' issues with Cass/Brooke came well after this.)
I am also in the camp that thinks that Nick only wanted Brit from the start, I like Brit, I could definitely see the love story and I only hope they are still happily together. As an Australian I also concur with what was said about the reasons for the unusual post FRC schedule, Nick's celebrity status, his book, the trek being promoted, and ratings for Ch10. It is all a great deal for Ch10. For the record I had never heard of Nick before and I really don't care for footy players but I really loved him as a person and as the lead, with the one exception being him calling women 'chicks'. All Imo and I hope they are still together.

Reading FB comments the overwhelming response by the public is Britt is second best. The posters see her as a default F1. The public have long memories and her confrontation with Cass makes her generally disliked. Britt didn’t change this opinion by bringing up Cass to Nick on their last date. I have no idea why TPTB have made Britt unlikable. I have no idea why all the online magazines are running the story Nick dumps Britt. It’s an interesting take on the Bachelor finds love scenario. I’m not a fan of Nick but if he is with Britt I do hope he is happy.

Once filming is finished there is a process where the editing team go back over everything and figure out how best to ‘massage the narrative’ for want of a better way to describe it. Everything you see happen is real but the perception is coloured by creative cutting and narration. This year’s reality was obviously a one horse race which required a lot of creativity by this team in my opinion. They turned a spiritual connection more romantic with Brooke. They left a lot of stuff on the floor with Britt and her hometown was a savage edit. They obviously didn’t have too much to work with in regards to Sophie and Nick doesn’t look like he was overly cooperative with the after show commentary. There were a lot of timeline manipulations this year.

Oh and I would expect some kind of ‘prove Britt was always the one’ kind of finale. Which will ‘shock the nation’. Just my thoughts of course. I would be shocked if they had split too. I suspect they are fine.

Same thing with Alex in Richie's season. Producers weren't really worried about making her look likable, they are all about the shock value they can get out of a situation.
I'm not sure about the dumping rumours, could be some truth there or could be nothing. Only takes one article for all the other new sites to start spinning off their own versions. The more ridiculous it gets though (eg. he is back with Cass) the less inclined I am to believe.

This whole season seems incredibly fake and pre-planned to me. I'd be incredibly surprised if Nick and his F1 (presumably Britt) last beyond some kind of contracted date (3 or 6 months post-finale).
