Bachelorette 14 - Becca Kufrin - Episode 5 - June 25th - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I do see why people love Becca and I think she is a really nice person who's genuinely looking for her second half (well, since she's all about the 50:50 rule)

But I personally don't enjoy this season, maybe because I don't really find her relatable - for instance how deals with the guys and her being OTT. I do find her and Garrett very cute and in tune, I really like them together despite all the controversy as I'm being uninvested - it's up to them how they will handle it. I also don't see any of her guys necessarily TB material. While people like Blake, I am bothered by his lack of enunciation when he speaks. I guess that's a struggle of a non-native speaker. all imo.

Chris was a producer save for the Chris wants the win, he is not really there for Becca.

Becca has no depth as a Character other than a Husband-Searcher, which is an extremely tired plot line for Human History, and this Franchise, said the old person. I know this is a common theme, but the Show would be better Plotted with flashes of some outside interests, passions, career aspirations or something people can connect on, other than "I Am Incomplete without a Husband; Are You Him?"

It's not enough to make an audience invest in her Journey or even ratings to create single character versions of the men pursuing her or not. The Heroine needs to be a real person. Who is she? Just another girl in Big Outfits she didn't select, whose father passed away, and who was rejected by a former boyfriend? YAWN. She is super boring as portrayed. There ought to be SOMETHING else to show or tell.

My thoughts:

The 1-on-1 -- just from the point of view of the activity, the entire day portion of the date looked uncomfortable. Camels are not exactly known for their sparkling, cooperative personalities, and with one camel outpacing the other, there was not much in the way of conversation. And a hot tub in the middle of a desert? Whose bright idea was that? I cringed at Colton's angry sunburn and applauded either Becca or her makeup artist -- whoever lathered that high SPF sunscreen on her. What, no one could throw Colton a tube? As for her interaction with Colton, Becca likes him, but no better than that. She is very, very easy to read in terms of her interest in the men. And I am very tired of the monkey jump hug. It's way over used on this show. I did enjoy the evening bus tour. It was romantic and fun.

The group date -- in which Chris let out his inner toddler. He seemed to have a strong sense of entitlement from his previous 1-on-1 along with his "win" of the singing competition (I raised an eyebrow when Wayne Newton shooed him back to the stage when Chris attempted to go into the audience.) If I were Becca I would have sent him home, but this screams producer's pick. I did enjoy seeing Wayne Newton's estate, although from nosing around a bit, It seems that he doesn't own it anymore.

Wills -- the star of the episode. He drew a line with Chris while keeping it classy.

The 2-on-1 -- David was completely ridiculous, and I was glad that Becca sent him home first. He keeps digging holes for himself and then falling into them. I wish that guys would quit falling for the trap of ragging on other cast members unless there is a really serious problem, such as violence. Yet they reliably do it season after season. And IMO Becca should have shut that type of tattling down quickly.

Jordan -- I'm sad to see him go, but at least he got a fair hearing with Becca. I thought that his question about how she likes to spend her weekends was a good one, but if I were him, I would have followed up on the church part of it. I do have some degree of appreciation for the dedication that he gives to his work, but he needs to talk about it less. And I'd like to see him work with a voice coach to slow down his rapid-fire speech. His observation that "David's head is in my underpants" was the highlight of the show for me. I think with the right woman, he would be a loyal boyfriend, but Becca is clearly not the one for him.

John -- I knew it was coming, but it was difficult to see Becca choose Chris over John. I'm looking forward to seeing John on Paradise.

It might help if the dates at least some of the time connected with her talents or interests. She told Jordan that she likes to be outdoors on Saturdays, but was rather vague about it. I do seem to recall that she liked to go fishing and hunting with her dad. Well, Las Vegas has fishing, and it also has rafting trips available, which might have made for a more interesting date than clambering around rocks or sitting in the usual hot tub.

Can somebody with more experience with this franchise explain the Jason edit. The only way it makes sense to me is if TPTB instruct the lead to identify the top 3 (in order) very early on (first week) and then focus the edit on the top 2 and the crazies (and I guess in this season the somewhat famous ex football player), figuring that there’s no real need to focus on F3 when they need to focus on the heartbroken F2 and they can give the F3 a little time once they’ve wringed everything out of the crazies that they can get away with. It’s such a disappointment that crazies win out over quality love in a show that’s supposed to be about finding love.

I can’t explain Jason’s edit, other than to say at this point in time on the show he is not much more than a place holder. IMO
What I can say is it’s a misconception, imo, to believe this show is about finding love. It’s a dating experiment where the lead is exposed to 25+ opposite sex cast and over so many weeks whittles the cast down to a final choice. MF, himself likened it to a sociological dating experiment. So I guess with this in mind, that might be a reason production focuses on the contrived crazy and drama. It’s part of the experience.

One word stuck out to me in that letter, she said "hopefully" she would be the bachelorette. IMO that said it all. Jump, how high. It's quite evident to me she can't act worth a hill of beans, and is not giving all the guys a chance like she asked viewers to do.

Agree .. she’s not giving them a chance ,,l think she’s actually trying to goad them into saying things that she can jump on and a reason she can let them go. If they’re not hanging on her every word and dragging their knuckles on the ground following her ... they’re outta there

Interesting that there's not much actual posting of the episode and more about the general overly used themes from this franchise. This is the part of every season that drags for me. Generally if I don't like the lead, find the contestants tiresome, and over all distaste for the season this is when I tap out and maybe scroll through a forum for updates once in a while and then wait for the inevitable drama after the season ends. No use beating dead horses or wasting my time on something that has no merit for me personally.

The date with Colton, IMO, was incredibly boring and reminded me of Arie's season with the lame conversations, forced interactions, and no depth. No wonder viewers were falling asleep.

Yeah, I don't think she's giving them any real chance, either. She's gaga over Garrett and is keeping Blake in her back pocket. She likes Jason and Colton as friends. That's about it.

Didn't Rachel have two guys who went pretty far but were otherwise unknown quantities? She seemed torn up about letting one of them go (around F5, I think,) and everyone was like, who is that guy? (Matt, maybe?) I think Adam was also one of them. Maybe nowadays producers shrug their shoulders about it, figuring that we can get to know them better on BiP.

It seemed to me that the first hour last night was all sound bites. They cut the ITMs right in the middle of a sentence. The guys talking over each other. Too hectic. It's not usually that bad, is it?

I wanted to hear the guys sing, especially Jason. It was boring so my mind was wandering and then it was over and I was like did I miss Jason? I heard he had a great voice and he was the one I really wanted to hear. Then I noticed others on here missed it too. So diappointing. It's like the producers don't have enough footage to work with this season. The editing is awful, imo.
