Woo hoo!
We may soon have something to watch on channel 9 too: Aussie Love IslandHOPING to cash in on the success of dating show The Bachelor, the Nine Network is set to announce it has commissioned its own matchmaking show, Love Island.
Under the stewardship of David Mott, ITV’s producers are said to have chosen an island location for the series which will see about 12 couples transplanted from their homes and into an environment that is intended to be conducive to falling in love.
@GuardianAngel, could we please get a separate thread for AU Love Island?

Thanks @GuardianAngel!
Excited about this one - I've watched all the UK seasons and loved them. IMO it's hard for contestants to hide their real personalty being filmed 24/7 and harder still for the producers to edit someone to be anything other than who they are - so to me it feels more genuine and less scripted than Bach/ette. Also there are more couples - more hookups - and more debauchery in general.
I'm keen! :Chris:

You guys have me excited. I have never seen or even heard of the show. It sounds a bit like Temptation Island.
You could be the juiciest, most ripe peach, but there is still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches.

It's better than Temptation Island, IMO @Sprite!
The contestants go in as singles so there's no relationship baggage between them. Then they have to "couple up" to stay on the show. In the UK, the public get to vote by phone poll who gets to stay on and who gets booted off, and in general it's the most genuine couples that get through to the end - all the winners have been "solid" couples IMO and many have stayed together after the show ended.
Not sure if a phone poll would fly in AU but they could maybe do an online vote. The 24/7 filming is IMO the best aspect - it reminds me of Big Brother in the early days where they just used to air hours and hours of barely edited footage. Also in the UK it's a daily show - including weekends - so IMO you really feel like you get to know the contestants and become invested in their relationships.
It's VERY RAUNCHY though - the couples *ahem* "share beds" so Ch 9 will have to put it on in a late timeslot, that's for sure!

I watched it there too - there are some popups which may cause virus alerts on some computers but I just closed them quickly and didn't have any issues.
The show is great - I read a good description by someone on SM saying it has "the perfect balance of trashiness and heart" and I think that sums it up well.

It's one of the highest-rated reality shows in the UK with a sizeable fan following Down Under.
And now Love Island will finally get an Australian edition, with Channel Nine announcing that the X-rated reality series will air on their network next year.
Nine made the announcement on Twitter, writing: 'Hearts will be pounding and pulses will be racing as Love Island gets an Australian edition exclusively for @9Go & @9NowAU in 2018.
X-rated, baby - X-RATED! Looks like they're going to whole hog. Good. I was worried they'd water it down.

Re: Love Island - Australia - Media SM - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
'How many followers do you have?' Love Island Australia application form is surprisingly brief... but wants to know ALL about your Instagram profile and why you split with your ex
Reality shows like The Bachelor and Survivor are known for their gruelling application forms, which are filled with invasive questions and can take hours to complete.
But the application page for the just announced Love Island Australia is surprisingly brief, with more focus on potential contestants' social media pull than their psychological profile.
One of the first questions on the form is: 'Do you currently blog and/or vlog?'
They then ask for more specific details, including the numbers of followers applicants have.
It also asks for details of Instagram profiles, including number of followers.
This is followed by a handful of relationship questions, including what caused break ups with previous partners and if potential contestants have ever found love with 'the one.'
After requesting a few photos of applicants, the process ends.
The Love Island application is drastically shorter than the one for The Bachelor, which asks for everything including mental health history and number of sexual partners.
Australian Survivor has similarly in-depth questions and requests information on drug history, criminal record, personal enemies and much more.
Channel Nine announced that the racy Love Island will air on their network next year.
Nine made the announcement on Twitter, writing: 'Hearts will be pounding and pulses will be racing as Love Island gets an Australian edition exclusively for @9Go & @9NowAU in 2018.'
The account added: 'Love Island Australia, will see sexy young singles on the lookout for romance, jetting off to a summer paradise to find love.'
Applications are currently open, with the series looking for applicants aged between 18 and 35.
The raunchy series sees a group of promiscuous young-at-hearts put on an exotic, luxury island where they party and form relationships with each other.

X-rated? WTH? Why does it deserve that designation? Do they not black out the naughty bits? Show full intercourse? Because to me, only full on sex acts make it deserve an x rating. I do not want to be watching porn.
You could be the juiciest, most ripe peach, but there is still going to be someone who doesn't like peaches.
