I don’t know Garrett. I don’t know if he wrote that apology. I don’t know if he’s sincere. I don’t know if he will change.
I remember in the part seasons, some contestants show they can change for better, so I remain cautiously optimistic.

However, I am glad when I apologize for the mistakes I made, I am given second chance, or even third. So, I am willing to give Garrett a chance and hope for the best.

I don’t think he’s an evil mastermind either .... I just think he’s a schmuck ... he’s not getting a pass from me because he’s Beccas F1 that’s for sure.

This whole season sucks for me .... Becca is Meh .. can take Blake or leave him and I have not clue which guy Jason is ... I hear he’s F3 ..... so I don’t think I’ll like the next Bach ... can’t even say I’m disappointed as I didn’t have any expectations going into Beccas season. Yawn.....

I think there are stories that showed that Love could change a Baddy to be a better man (or woman).
I think Garrett have a wake -up call when a lot of people disliked what he liked. For me the apology he made
whether he made it himself or was written by somebody else ( once again that showed him what he did was
wrong) was step in the right direction. I believe that Love can make the world a better place. So I 'm with you all that are
cautiously optimistic and giving Garrett a chance. JMO.

This is where I'm at.

I used to think Peter was the most divisive guy on this board, clearly we hadn't seen nothing yet. However, I will say one thing, those of us who disliked things about Peter always had something new or different to discuss. Another grimace he'd make, something attention grabbing/topic worthy he'd post on IG, a new revelation/opinion/twist/or question on why he'd done something (even if it's something we'd discussed before, there were new angles, jokes, insights etc.)

IMO that's not what I'm seeing with the Garrett divide. There's a lot of rehashing on a guy we're never going to agree on. I know this may in part be because it's still early in the season and we haven't seen much of him, but I do hope that if we're gonna criticize or compliment this guy (whichever, I don't care) it'll be because there's a different angle, observation or something we can discuss. If not, then I still be reading but I guess there's nothing to do but wait for a new 'Ette and F1 next year.

@maryl that’s just it ... he’s not a “baddy” .... not as far as I understand the word to mean anyway. IMO a baddy is one perceived to be a bit of playboy. BUT a baddy CAN change once he meets the right woman ... happens every day around the world

Garrett isn’t a baddy .... his problems, so to speak, can be more of a deep rooted moralistic issue. Can and will he change? Maybe, but it’ll be years before anyone will know. I’m sure he’ll be on his best behaviour from here on out but that doesn’t mean diddly to me. If Becca want s to take a seven year chance on him ..that’s up to her

It really doesn't matter how divided this forum is or will be in the future, because we are all entitled to our opinions and I don't expect my opinion to change anyone else's and vice versa. I do enjoy reading posts that are not the same as my line of thinking.

In the meantime I will state what I think about the Garrett that I've seen so far. His whole SM activity has been handled very poorly IMHO.

Let's recap.

Original IG garrett_yrigs12 private all during filming,  goes public, backlash starts immediately. He tries to delete all negative posts, and likes/thanks people on the positive posts with and positive remarks. He can't handle it (which I told him he wouldn't win that fight) he goes private, then de activates it.

A new IG is discovered the night before the premier, gy_yrigoyen. I and other's predicted the first post will be his bio before the day is over, 44minutes past the stroke of midnight Eastern time he posts his bio pic.

Meantime the media is relentless. 3 days after the premier he posts an apology. Then he posts a pic of him with a dead fish and most recently meeting his brother's co workers and skateboarding like a teenager which all have positive posts. I have not been checking his IG comments the last few days but it looks like he's still on the deleting campaign since there are posts responding to others, which appear to be deleted.

Sometime in between that mess, he changes his original IG garrett_yrigs12 which caused the backlash to _gy_yrigoyen__ and keeps it private. I didn't keep track at how many times he went public to deactivate to private whatever, it's like a yo yo with him.

Those decisions are an indication to me he's not too bright because who would think it's beneficial to create a new IG, post an apology promises to be a better person, then changes the original IG which caused all the problems, to a different name and keeps it private? There were other F1's who faced a lot of hate, Jordan, Bryan, and others. They faced the music, and didn't hide behind a private account.

@pavalygurl I agree with much of what you said if not all. I don't know what's in Garrett's heart but I'm not sure that a like of a very dumb photo supposedly showing boys from before and now means that he's homophobic, at least I hope it doesn't. He may have gay friends for all we know. Becca is bound to feel strongly about it so am sure she's talked to him about it. I feel the same way about the other likes that we know of. It seems to me like it was a mindless following of a very slanted instagram account. Hopefully for Becca's sake, those feelings don't go too deep but that's for her to find out, imo. I'm still giving him a chance because there's something in him that Becca fell for and I don't believe he'd want to be with her if he were the kind of person that some believe he is from those "likes". JMO

He is way not too bright to ever be considered evil. IMO.
