I figured Des had a bad picker but getting really hurt helped her realize what was right in front of her (Chris). But hasn't Becca already been burnt now, with Ross and Arie, so like... you'd think she WOULDN'T trust her gut anymore, . It's why The Bachelorette clearly wasn't the best environment for her - with producers just feeding into her fantasy. Then again, even though her family distrusted and disliked Ross, she stayed on/off with the guy for 7 years, so maybe it doesn't matter what environment she's in.

It's funny, it's almost like all the successful Bachelorettes had to face and conquer their previous bad habits on the show to find their forever persons. Like Des and Brooks, Ashley and Bentley, Rachel and Peter, (Kaitlyn and Nick? Kind of?) - the guy you're immediately drawn to, but that's ultimately emotionally unavailable or bad for you - only to discover that happiness is marrying your best friend. I feel like Becca had the opportunity to conquer the Garretts/Rosses in her life to find a Blake, except she failed. But you know, we'll see how it turns out etc.

I like Becca, I continue to like Becca. I think it’s just because I never thought she was more than she is and this whole thing shows that. IMO, she’s a kind person who is extremely down to earth and relatable, and desperately wants to find a man that loves her and has her back. No more, no less, but I guess that’s what I’ve liked about her. I hope to see this play out in a way Garrett is held accountable but if they choose to make it work, we see how they get there.

This. Yes. And when you add the (deleted) instagram profile link, it becomes even clearer. I feel sad for Becca and shocked that she can put up with his disgusting opinions. And knowing that she chooses such an offensive guy, I cant yet bring myself to watch the show. If it turns out differently, I'll just watch on demand I guess. Poor Becca.

To me there is no poor Becca about it.  In fact, it could be lucky Becca, being that something like this comes to light so early vs later when a relationship has truly formed. Now if things don’t work out, she can end it sooner than later. Lets hope she isn’t      

Very interesting RS podcast with Ashley Spivey on Garrett’s likes.  Not an RS fan but was keen on listening because Ashley has driven this discussion in the media. She really speaks to many core issues of this awful SM situation. This was taped Tuesday afternoon before Becca’s public comments.  They wondered, at that point, if ABC or Garrett would make any public statement.

* Ashley corroborated the story with 3 other individuals who were following Garrett last year and confirmed they were his likes before putting up the screenshots sent to her.  

* She strongly believes this is not about political issues but about human decency issues. She said that’s why she spoke out.  She confirmed that there were more inflammatory likes than what she posted.

* Garrett’s actions before and since this came out have caused Ashley to question his motivations for going on the show.  While Becca had no access to Garrett’s SM, he had access to hers before filming.  Becca clearly expresses some of her views there and Ashley wondered why he would want to pursue a relationship with someone whose views are so diametrically opposed to his own.

*Once Garrett deleted his account, she wonders why he would open a new one.  If his motivation was really to be in a relationship with Becca, she questions why he would care about building any following at this point. She thinks he should’ve stayed off SM through filming.  (IMO, the show mandated he get back on)

*Ashley wants people to realize how much money people make as IG influencers once they get off the show and to think about whether they want to follow and support someone who expresses these views. 

*She says she hopes the best for Becca and, that if she were in her shoes, she would be devastated when she found this out.  She hopes they had several long conversations about it, but she personally wouldn’t be able to be in a relationship with someone who had this like history on SM.  

The Roseanne cancellation happened while they were recording and Ashley said that clearly ABC takes this type of issue very seriously.  She also acknowledged that finding Garrett’s likes was a much more detailed process than finding Lee Garrett’s tweets.

I know I missed some things, so anyone else who listened please chime in!

Is Ashley friends with Becca?  I completely agree with her sentiments but she's become an advocate and I'm just trying to understand why she's leading the charge here...

To be honest I'm struggling to believe in Becca's 'kindness' when she seems so willing to brush past clear examples of someone celebrating explicitly nasty messaging but oh well. Like... not even an acknowledgement of how not ok that stuff is? Cool. I also highly doubt we ever see the two of them discuss/deal with this; likely they want to shove it under the proverbial rug as soon as possible

Thx! Not seeing a future BFF friendship between Ashley and Becca here. ha! There might be an ebb and flow as far as how much attention G's SM gets between now and ATFR but I don't imagine this will not come back full fury after she let's Blake go at F2. Sentiments are usually high at that point and fans will want to know why, why, why?

I don't know that it is really a human decency issue. It should be but I don't know if that is really what those that are devastated feel.

I have watched the conservatives yell hate and I have watched the liberals yell hate. Until all hate is called out by everyone no matter the subject matter then I am not convinced. Some are only devastated by hate if it fits their narrative.

This is all JMO

Does anyone else think the story may already be dying down? The media storm of the last few days seems quieter to me today. Wondering if it will remain quiet for a while until later in the season.
