Bachelorette 14 - Becca Kufrin - Media SM - Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers* #5

Oh, Becca, you sweet summer child. Do you really think the producers are your friends? I worry about this girl. How has she gotten through life just trusting everyone this much?!

From what I've read, she was just working for a tech company and most of her job was writing content for trade publications. I think those types of PR jobs are available everywhere, so I don't think she would have to move to LA to find work, but maybe she wants to go into a different area of PR. IMO.

I hope she doesn’t move to Reno or whatever bubble community Garrett has surrounded himself in. Don’t really want to see Becca pull a Catherine here. If anything, I want Garrett to go to Minneapolis (or LA, or wherever), get out of his bubble and get some cultural diversity enlightenment/education courtesy of his liberal feminist fiancé.

@Rolly I suspect during media rounds on Tuesday/Wednesday this week was when the Stassi interview was recorded. Becca had her 2 producers there....Courtney who i have no clue who that is and Megan who I am assuming is Megan Firestone, she was the one producer immediately obvious to me in those TMZ leaked FRC pics.

On another note, for those on SM following Becca; is she super quite on SM now, I am ofcourse assuming she is on SHV with Garrett now.

Again two different things,  It may be as I too am a Midwest girl.  I know many people who hunt but are completely against automatic weapons  and school shootings.  Owing a gun and hunting do not mean all are against limiting the guns available.  I am just saying this as I wouldn’t jump from one to another based on others I know in my life that hunt. I say this as someone who is afraid to even touch a gun even if I know it’s not loaded.

Same. I’m from Wisconsin. Practically everyone hunts and fishes here, even liberal people. Garrett’s love of hunting didn’t even phase me. I’m surrounded by that. However, advetising the semi automatic NRA stuff gave me a pause. And these IG likes made it come to a grinding halt for me. Conservative? I mean, I’m not... but I can respect it. Hunt and fish? Again, not my thing... but like I said, Wisco girl and you are hard pressed to find a dude who doesn’t do that here.  But the extreme conspiracy/racist/sexist/homophobic stuff? Nope. Nopity nope. That’s where I draw the line. I imagine this has to be very difficult for Becca to reconcile right now.

I am going to go against the grain a bit and say Garrett isn't as bad as he is being made out to be right now.

Do I agree with him hitting the like button on certain IG posts, oh heck no!!  But I am not going to condemn him until I know if he truly aligns his beliefs to the extreme as it's being made to be, with those posts.

I know lots of people, who on a daily basis, will laugh at a joke, gif, or SM post, all while saying...this "whatever" doesn't match my beliefs, but I have to admit, that's down right hilarious.  I have even done it.

I am in no way trying to defend Garrett.  He was "stoopid" to hit the like button on those posts.  But, I don't think he is a monster, or horrible person, or someone whose values are set in stone.

Personally, I don't have the same core values at fifty-five that I had at twenty-five.  As I've matured with age, education, raising children, living in different countries and such, my core beliefs have changed with my life experiences.  

We can all grow as humans if we choose to open our eyes, and minds, and see the world from different perspectives...especially through the eyes of those we love the most.  

Garrett has been given a harsh lesson in life these past two days and I am going to look on the bright side of this situation.  My hope is that it has broadened his perspective on life, and with Becca's articulation skills, they will get thru this and come out the other side stronger.

I love a good redemption story .

After listening to the Stassi podcast with Becca I feel better. It reminded me what a cool chick she is, and no matter what happens she’s gonna be just fine!

I don’t get why she has to be the one to move. Why doesn’t he move for her? Since I’m from MN,do we want him here? Maybe they should give it some time before either one of them moves. Garrett’s family lives in CA maybe that’s why they would move there. Wherever he goes I agree he does need to be enlightened in a number of areas IMO. Where does she even start?

It's really unfortunate that Garrett's foolproof "hot or not" screening tool for feminists failed him. One slipped through!

That's the thing, though - a lot of that discovery happens at college/university, when you move away from home for the first time, or at the very least get to meet new people in a much bigger and more diverse environment. However, Garrett is a 29 year old man. Has he already had those experiences and still chosen to be the way he is? I can't say, but it doesn't really reflect well on him, IMO, that he is nearing 30 and was liking those disgusting posts even 3 months ago.

I'm curious about how ABC will handle this.  Not TPTB, but the network ABC.  Do Stephanopuolos/Roberts/Strahan just stay silent and never bring this up on GMA?  How do they look to their audience if they don't?  It's 2018, and the network has its own PR to be concerned about.

Honestly, for personal selfish reasons this is probably the best for me. I really like Becca, so I was probably at risk of getting too involved with her “love story.” I’m glad this came out even before the season started, before I could even begin to fall into the rabbit hole. Now I can save my energy and just passively watch... and maybe accomplish more this summer than just obsess over Becca’s journey.
