I have no doubt that TPTB will throw him under the bus....if they aren't doing it subtly already. Not that I wish them on anyone, but really he has no one but himself to blame. I think it may be time for a huge wake up call for those pillow lips.  :uptonogood

I agree with you. I think that Arie has been able to get away with many things with the charming personable persona. I think when Arie and Becca spoiled the season, twice, TPTB started scrambling and bouncing ideas of how to save the ratings. Then good, old, dumb Arie, handed them a goldmine - he wanted to switch. They had him, they will use the switcheroo to improve ratings and to h**l with anyone involved. I also believe that now that they have him, they are probably holding the entire letter of the contract over his head and indirectly - Lauren's too. You are right. They are milking it for what it's worth - we have already started to see the editing shift and it will not get anymore favorable for Arie or Lauren. At least I don't think so! Plus, they most definitely will throw Arie under the bus and drive over him twice just for good measure  laugh out loud . I am starting to feel a twinge of sympathy for his upcoming predicament though I still believe that he did not handle the situation with the sense God gave geese.  JMO

I agree with everything you said except the sympathy. Nope. The show has been on 30+ seasons. He has been on the show previously. Due to his father and his own career, he should be way more media savy than the ordinary contestant. He, better than anyone else should know all the secrets in his closet. He has hankered for this gig for years....even almost being the Bachelor once before. He should have been the most prepared person ever for this post...even better than four time contestant Nick...and yet he has managed to screw himself royally. Nope. No sympathy here.

And, I honestly think he's still really naive about how bad this is going to be. Even in the last interview he did, he talked about how he can't wait for March 5th and for everyone to see how it ended up. No, dude! March 5th is when the entire universe starts hating you! Jason always seemed to know what was coming in his interviews, as he has this sense of dread and guilt. But Arie has *none* of it. It blows my mind. IMO.

I don't know about naïve. I would go more with stupid. Really stupid!

Either he is just putting on a brave face or tptb have him so bamboozled that everyone loves him and will love this ending with him taking that chance for "true love". Doesn't matter. He should know better. It is all about him and he is totally ignoring that he has hurt other people along the way. He is also ignoring how this show works. Editing is rarely your friend...particularly if you are the lead.

It will be interesting to watch how he starts spinning the excuses once he sees the edit and the SM backlash. I predict that confident swagger is about to take a beating. I might end up enjoying at least something from this season. I am bad....  :stirthepot     rotfl   :uptonogood

I dont think that Arie can exactly say " Nah you dont want to tune in on March 5 . It's going to be boring, or a letdown. " He's got to toe the company line. Maybe he's happy for everyone to see how things ended up because Becca is back together with her old boyfriend and they are all going to ride off into the sunset. At this point, nothing would surprise me! I dont remember Jason's interviews. Not sure how much of that season I even watched. I'd love to know more details about them.

I don't remember the exact details, but Jason was not the most charming of guys and he most definitely was not media savvy. I remember it all being very subdued. I think they did what they had to do and then attempted to retreat from the public eye and live their life.

If Arie is truly serious about Lauren, then I wish them luck. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a situation similar to Jason's. I think Arie will get bored soon enough, as is his regular pattern. I predict the severity of the backlash will impact the amount of time they stay together. The worse it is, the longer he will try to maintain the façade of a guy looking for marriage. I'm envisioning Lauren breaking it off once she clues in and then giving the appropriate media interviews saying what a fool she has been, she believed him, she should have listened, blah, blah, blah. After sufficiently throwing him under the bus and redeeming herself...perhaps a stint as the next Bette....after Becca of course. Arie...the gift that keeps on giving.

Yeah, but no one is even asking him. He brings it up unprompted. Just like saying "I'm so happy, I'm so happy" repeatedly. It's just lacking in any media savvy, because fans are going to realize that he's saying that literally days after dumping his fiancé for someone else. A smart person would say something "it's been a really difficult journey, but I am at peace with my decision". I honestly just think he's really naive and thinks that the show is going to have his back and is going to show us the Arie/Lauren love story. When they're already making Lauren out to be the villain. I actually like her, but most people on social media and forums are talking about how she came off entitled and snobby at the end, which was their intent with showing the other girls mocking her and saying "she told me maybe you got a rose this time, but not next time honey!". He doesn't seem like he's saying toeing any company line to me, but genuinely showing happiness for the secret to be out. And let's be real - the guy barely cares about doing what the show wants him to. He spoiled that Becca won and how he basically spoiled that he's with Lauren, like going after the commenter who talked about their age difference. Arie has always thought that he was in charge and there were no real consequences. He's in for a big surprise, IMO.

The show has indeed been on 30+ seasons and even a casual viewer is aware that only Sean married his F1. The show doesn't have a great track record - no pun intended. Why any contestant would go on this show expecting anything more than free travel, media exposure and possible BFFs is a mystery to me.

Our amazing sleuths here have identified the following backgrounds of some of Arie's contestants, irrespective of what is listed on their ABC "bio":

Krystal - degree in journalism from Boise State & attended UCLA for broadcasting
Annaliese - actress / model
Caroline - grad of NY Film Academy who studied broadcast journalism at Suffolk University
Kendall - multimedia communications major who enjoys producing videos and hopes to become a journalist
Tia - friend of former Bachelor & Bach In Paradise contestant Raven

IMO, poor ol' dumb Arie was a media neophyte compared to these contestants' credentials. FWIW, Lauren and Becca don't seem to have any such credentials.  Smiley
Oopsie! Actually only Lauren of the suspected final 2 doesn't have a media-type background. Becca is in Public Relations.

That is why I said "good old dumb Arie" He comes across as sweet charming and personable but more and more after re-watching some of the episodes and his interaction with Baby Beks, he strikes me as an overgrown boy. (Just my opinion here) He tends to be very superficial in the discoussions (edit? maybe). But if it isn't, then could it be that tptb is counting on it? Blindside Arie? Afterall they have psychologists who work for/on the show who would have seen this chink in Arie's character -  now map the course to exploitation which Arie is surprisingly following with his honesty and earnestness and optimism during interviews.. They couldn't have written a better script.

Arie has been around cameras for years. He watched his father handling press and did so with his own career. He was also on Emily's season and had tons of press with that. Now on his own season he has been coached as have previous leads. He is in no way a neophyte. Those people studied the press while Arie has had years of practical hands on experience. No way is he a neophyte compared to them.

I was just reminded on another thread that Becca does PR for a living, so she isn't wet behind the ears either.

@Sprite I just need to follow you around nodding. Not to mention, TPTB string Arie along both Sean and Chris’s seasons. Arie screwed up, pure and simple, for whatever reason. Maybe Lauren will be his answer and Arie who has never been with one woman at a time will remain faithful and Lauren and Arie can become SeanCat and minister at their church, but I am a big believer in watching what people do and not what they say to see who they are. So far Arie is same ole Arie. JMO.
