Bachelor In Paradise Australia: Meet the contestants

TEN’S new Bach spin-off, Bachelor In Paradise, starts tonight, with a seemingly endless supply of reality TV veterans marooned on an isolated Fiji resort in search of love.

Bach fans, here’s who you’ll be spending the next several weeks with:

Laurina Fluere, 34 (The Bachelor, Blake Garvey season)

What she’s known for: Wailing after Blake took her on a date to Harry’s Cafe De Wheels for, in her words, “dirty street pie.” While that gave her a reputation as a spoiled diva, she later redeemed herself by getting her hands dirty as a contestant on I’m A Celeb.

What to expect: Laurina reveals her exhaustive checklist for a potential suitor in a preview clip for Bachelor In Paradise — see her full list below. Shall we expect another Laurina tantrum when she discovers she’s surrounded by a bunch of guys who just want to pivot from Instagram modelling to breakfast radio?

Apollo Jackson, 25 (The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: Being an implausibly beefy professional magician who, let’s be real, was never going to end up with Sophie Monk (he was what, seven when Poison came out?)

What to expect: Shirtless fire twirling! Shirtless swimming! Shirtless dates! If Apollo did pack a shirt for this Fiji adventure, you can bet the Bachelor producers confiscated it on arrival.

Jarrod Woodgate, 32 (The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: Universally regarded as a stage five clinger, Jarrod reacted to Sophie Monk’s gentle rejection with quiet dignity, bursting into tears and running along a beach towards the horizon.

What to expect: He’s promised a “whole new Jarrod”, and he’s not wrong — he appears to have hooked up with fellow Bach in Paradise cast member Keira. May god have mercy on his soul, she is gonna eat him alive.

Ali Oetjen, 31 (The Bachelor, Tim Robards season)

What she’s known for: Ali came third on the first season of The Bachelor way back in 2013, providing one of the series’ most painful moments when she leaned in to kiss Tim Robards and was brutally rebuffed. Since then, she has become an Instagram fitness blogger, the natural career path for any and all Bachelor contestants.

What to expect: A teaser for Bach in Paradise shows several of the male cast members fizzing over her — so a cheeky pash shouldn’t be as hard to come by this time around.

Blake Colman, 30 (The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: Throwing a massive tanty when Sophie booted him off the show. Oh, and bashing the s**t out of a guy in a sickening 2015 street attack.

What to expect: Umm ... Bachelor In Paradise: Fiji Fight Club?

Brett Moore, 28 (The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: Brett was super-chill, flew under the radar and was out of the show by episode five, so ... not a lot?

What to expect: I dunno, but I hope he has a nice holiday.

Davey Lloyd, 28 (The Bachelorette, Sam Frost’s season)

What he’s known for: Lloyd hid a painful secret during his time on The Bachelorette — he lost two mates during filming, in two unrelated deaths.

What to expect: Lloyd admits his “head wasn’t in the right place” during his season, for obvious reasons — so three years later, consider this a do-over. He certainly hits the ground running in episode one.

Eden Schwencke, 34 (The Bachelorette — Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: Well we’re not even halfway through this list and already all these dudes are starting to look the same, aren’t they? Eden left on episode three, having never really recovered from the decision to breakdance on arrival when he first met Sophie. First impressions count, bud.

What to expect: Eden’s an aspiring actor, so you can basically consider this second run at reality TV as an extended Home and Away audition. Hey, it worked for Sam Frost.

Florence Moerenhout, 28 (The Bachelor — Matty J’s season)

What she’s known for: Getting booted from the show by Matty J — then suffering one of the show’s most awkward exits as she stumbled her way through the Bach mansion’s garden in heels to the waiting car, rather than walking on the footpath. Smooth.

What to expect: We have one piece of advice for Flo: Don’t go walking in gardenbeds, please stick to the laneways and the footpaths you’re used to.

Jake Ellis, 31 (The Bachelorette, Georgia Love’s season)

What he’s known for: Slamming Bach rival Lee as “fake”, giving clues as to who won the show after he was evicted, getting into a secret relationship with a Bachelor contestant from another season — he loves the drama, this one.

What to expect: Ellis told Now To Love he’ll “ruffle a few feathers” in Paradise — and appears to have his sights set on Laurina. In tonight’s episode though, it’s Jake who gets his feathers ruffled - has his reputation worked against him?

Keira Maguire, 31 (The Bachelor, Richie Strahan’s season)

What she’s known for: Tears, tantrums and a ton of plastic surgery. Keira’s the perfect reality TV villain, so much so they brought her back for a trainwreck turn on I’m A Celeb.

What to expect: D.R.A.M.A. Various teaser clips show Keira stropping around the resort, cocktail in hand, bellowing that her rivals “will lose” and have “f**ked with the wrong person.” Then, in another scene, she’s weeping at the camera and declaring she “just wants somebody to love.” She’s got layers, this one.

Leah Costa, 25 (The Bachelor, Matty J’s season)

What she’s known for: Leah’s exit caused quite the controversy, unceremoniously dumped by Matty J for “hiding her past” as a topless waitress. Once she was gone, both Matty J and her fellow competitors — who had no trouble throwing her under the bus — were widely accused of sl*t-shaming.

What to expect: She’s already been spotted getting up close and personal with Micheal Turnbull during filming. Look, we all make mistakes.

Lisa Hyde, 31 (The Bachelor, Blake Garvey’s season)

What she’s known for: The woman who dodged a bullet, placing third on her season and watching Blake choose her BFF Sam Frost — only to change his mind and go with Louise instead. “I’m glad Blake didn’t choose me,” she said later.

What to expect: Based on promos for the show, expect sparks to fly with the next man on our list ...

Luke Mcleod, 34 (The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: Delightful Instagram shots like the one above, thank you Luke. For obvious reasons, Mcleod was pegged as an early frontrunner for Sophie’s affections, but she booted him relatively early — ostensibly to make way for her chosen winner, Stu Laundy. And didn’t things work out well for those two!

What to expect: A connection with Lisa. Much handsomeness.

Mack Reid, 36 (The Bachelorette, Sophie Monk’s season)

What he’s known for: He left on the same episode as Luke, and Mack admitted he and Sophie had zero chemistry. Which is a bummer, because he’d had a crush on the former Bardot babe for years.

What to expect: Mack seemed to spend more time on the show fostering his friendships with his fellow contestants than finding love with Sophie, so expect more good vibes from him in Paradise.

Michael Turnbull, 36 (The Bachelorette, Sam Frost’s season)

What he’s known for: Well and truly stretching out his 15 minutes of reality TV fame. Turbull is an Instagram influencer who flogs bespoke bracelets to his fans, who he calls his “Mychaelsquad.” Mega lols.

What to expect: Bach in Paradise is obviously just another pit stop on Michael’s quest to become the white, male Oprah.

Nina Rolleston, 30 (The Bachelor, Sam Wood’s season)

What she’s known for: She placed fifth in her season, before she was booted off the show in favour of an intruder. Ouch.

What to expect: The drama-free Nina said she made genuine friendships with every other contestant on her season — even the ones who bitched about her. Come on Nina, get your hands dirty this time around!

Tara Pavlovic, 28 (The Bachelor, Matty J’s season)

What she’s known for: Once Matty J booted her from the show, she insisted she “didn’t give a sh*t” about him and revealed she made her driver stop for a Maccas run as she was escorted from the mansion. QUEEN.

What to expect: She’ll hitchhike it to Maccas by ep 3. Good news Tara — the nearest is only 83km away:

Fairly pissy move by TPTB as well as Brett and Stephanie if they set Tara up to be in an awkward position, IMO.  Maybe she was in on it, but if not I can see why she'd say "I don't want to be here"
