Rachel Lindsay & Bryan Abasolo - Bachelorette 13 - Discussion - #2

Yeah, this whole forum exists because we care enough about these people to comment, snark, and give our unsolicited advice regarding their decisions! Rachel and Bryan know what they're signing up for with this move to LA. Anyone who hates the constant scrutiny is free to pull a Chantal and disappear from the spotlight and make their social media private. And they almost never do, because they love the attention too much. They'd rather be criticized than not talked about at all. And I love to criticize, so it's a win-win! IMO.

i wish rachel would do things with just herself. I really want to like her but i don't like bryan and i really wish she would do some things independently and not gush about him 24/7. jmo

I'm sure Rachel probably does do things by herself that the public is not aware of. Hopefully she has some private time. I can think of several things that I do privately without anyone including my spouse on a daily basis. JMO

Race is really a man-made construct. There is already talk about making "latino/Hispanic" a race category for the 2020 census, as most Latinos/Hispanics who mark "white" on the census don't actually identify as white and don't feel like they have the same privileges as other white people. Technically, Roberto would be white and I think that most of us would agree that we don't see him as white. Race designations aren't really based on any type of science and many groups have been in various different classifications throughout the years. I'm Indian and back in 1970, I was considered "white". It wasn't until 1980, after many petitions and fights, that we were considered "Asian". So if you and I were having this conversation in 1970, you could have said "It is a fact that you are white" and I would have disagreed with you. Similarly many Latinos would disagree with you over being classified as white. Like GA said, it is not a simple fact or else there wouldn't be many smart, educated people still trying to figure out how to properly classify people. IMO.

I'm glad, that Rachel has reasons to gush about Bryan, and is happy with him. She's still her own person regardless of her relationship status, and happily posting about him. Imho anyone can freely like her even though she's with Bryan. She's not required to post stuff without him just to appease people who don't like him. She likes him, that's what matters to her. Jmo

@Aria, excellent post for setting the record straight. I would also point out the fact that it is clear that Bryan identifies himself proudly as Colombian, introduced himself to Rachel as such "have you ever dated a Colombian guy?" Spoke Spanish to her immediately, took her to visit the Colombian community landmarks on HTD and is signed with the "premier Hispanic talent management and entertainment marketing firm in the United States". (Sofia Vergara's firm which has access to whomever they want) IMO, he has told us who he is and how he proudly identifies himself so, I respect that and find attempts to create some alternate disingenuous because those are the facts before us.

And here I count myself lucky if I wake up and identify with "human". There are days I question it.

Reading through these last pages has been interesting. So Rachel should stop gushing so much about her fiance on her own social media page, because I guess she should be sensitive to the fact that some, who don't know him personally, really don't like him. How rude of her. And yet, something tells me, the second she doesn't gush about him, the speculations that they're broken up or there's trouble in paradise will start. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. 

By the way, as I said in the fan thread, I'm already cringing about that Wendy interview. Wendy Williams is messy af and has no sense of professionalism. This interview could be fun and light hearted or it could be really uncomfortable and messy. Guaranteed Wendy will know very little about the show, will ask weird and inappropriate questions and hell they'll be lucky if she doesn't call them the wrong name. Just saying

I would literally pay money for Rachel's response to a request that she downplay her relationship with Bryan to appease anyone. Sunday wouldn't be the best day for it tho, IMO.

I've never watched Wendy except on YouTube but, now you guys are scaring me.
