Bachelor 22 - Arie Luyendyk Jr - General Discussion - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

We are looking forward to a great season.

I think it's an interesting choice. It think choosing him, shows that they really wanted someone who seems genuine and believable as the Bachelor. I like that he is almost 36, and of all the rumored guys, I think he has the best chance at finding something. He reminds me of the "classic bachelor". He's not controversial. And also after the Corinne Demario thing...and Dean being such a douche...they need someone low key. Of course, the girls won't be. But I think it'll be good.

The fact he's been "in talks" to get this role for years is bothersome for me. It's been 5 years, find a girl outside the franchise. Why he's he still single?

I do think TPTB underestimated the negativity to this pick as well, and RS is saying "This'll be the season for the tabloids." Maybe they were after controversy?

I'm okay that Arie's TB. I liked him a lot in Emily's season but not so much post-season, especially when he hooked up with Courtney. I'm hoping that he's serious about finding someone. I didn't like that they brought back Nick but at least Arie hasn't worn out his welcome. JMO

I don't think there's any way that Arie was anywhere near their first pick though. There's a lot of viewers who don't have any idea who he is and I imagine a lot of potential cast don't either.

Love, love, love Arie. Finally, a season I will watch again. I don't think I've watched an entire season since Sean Lowe. Hopefully, they don't drive the bus over Arie too hard.

If I remember correctly, however, Arie did have a rather long term relationship pre-show first time around with a woman who had a child of her own. They lived together and he was quite committed to her and the child for quite awhile. So I do believe he can be involved and committed should the right person come along. I think it was the woman who broke things off. He was quite broken up about it if I remember it all correctly.

Yup! She actually had two children and he had her name tattooed, so it was very serious. They were even going to have a baby together, but she miscarried. I believe her name was, ironically, Cassie too. After that, he had a girlfriend back in 2014/2015, but I don't think it lasted long. He also dated Courtney and Selma, but those weren't very serious. IMO.

IMO it hasn't been consistent talk for the last 5 years.  It was always Sean's gig unless he didn't want it, so Arie didn't have a chance at that point.  He was approached and even filmed telling his family he was the bachelor before TPTB ended up going with CS .  And since I don't think he's given them all that much attention or time.  IMO, they went back to Arie because Petey was not their first choice, but a fan fav, so he was probably given a chance.  And IMO, just like during the season, he proved to be difficult, leading TPTB to go a different way.  

And if I remember correctly, Arie's had a couple long term relationships in the last 5 years.  They just didn't work out or turn into true, lasting, lifetime love.  

RS... well he thought it was always Peter, so what does he know?  Not to slight him, but he's not always right.  He's never appeared to like Arie, so I'm not surprised he's already starting his anti-Arie stance.

You are correct, Kasha. She had two kids. Arie told Emily during their SQT.
