at resting grump face @Sprite. Nick's RGF doesn't bug me probably b/c I am a victim of RBF myself. I will be in a great mood and then someone comes to me saying "you need to smile!" And then I will think What?!!!! Then my great mood is tainted with a sense of paranoia. I think this explains why I find pouty/brooding Nick endearing.

I thought it was just something they agreed beforehand - Vanessa would answer questions about No Better You and Nick would answer the rest.  IMO media needs to keep focused on the purpose of the day and V's accomplishment so each having a role in answering questions would keep things on track.
During the stage questions they often followed this pattern as well.

No Better You recap 
One of V's attributes I greatly admire is the positive spin she brings to "pride". She is proud of her Italian heritage, her Canadianism, her being a Montrealer, her being a St. Leo's girl. I don't ever recall someone from the show promoting culture to this degree. All of these environments shaped her into the woman she is today. 
IMO the fundraiser was not only the first step toward fulfilling a childhood dream but was also used as an opportunity to involve her childhood community and make them a part of a proud moment. 
Every person that goes on the show is from somewhere.  It does appear that the Italian community of Montreal is close knit and the list of Italian surnames involved in all aspects of this event is long. By rallying around her they are also rallying around her family and it becomes one big group hug of support for V&N and the foundation. It moves the marker away from reality tv and replaces it with real contribution.
About that childhood dream... many dreams are lost along the course of a life so how wonderful that they found a way to reshape V's vision of service. Knowing that this wasn't just a substitute for leaving her job, that this was something she long held close to her heart, makes it all the richer and much more substantive. It makes me think that her family is even more proud of the support Nick gives their daughter/sister. No doubt when she was young dreaming of schools in far away places they thought, as many families of dreamers do, that she would grow out of it. Along comes Nick and together he and V have found a way.

I too was touched by her story about seeing the World Vision commercials at a young age and wanting to bring all the kids home, and later sponsoring her own.

She has a heart of gold and by having that empathy for people, she realized being on the show can help her realize her dream which was always there, and had nothing to do with the show.
