Re: Bachelorette 13 - Rachel Lindsay - Episode 8 - July 17 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*
I'm not asking for Bryan's story to be scaring or emotional or for him to have issues. If he has managed to live this earth for 37 years without jarring moments then I need his advice cause frankly that's remarkable. The only reason I ask for the producers to provide some insight into bryan, is so far they keep saying how great he is, how he understands rachel and accepts her flaws but we are not seeing it, like zero, nothing. we're only being told and I'm just always left wondering if I missed something. I never watched andi's season so idk what her interactions with josh were but at least with jojo's season, we saw the two of them talk beyond surface level stuff and it was easy for me to be like I get it. With Rachel and Bryan, I'm just always asking how? when? where? cause the viewers are not being allowed to see any of it

TPTB made Rachel look silly taking Matt and Adam to F6 with ZERO context. We were all left scratching our heads but its obvious from the last epsiode that Rachel had some connection with them. Why else would she say to Matt so emotionally that he was like her and for Adam to feel so confident in their connection that he was shocked to be going home. Do we think these guys are just dellusional or is more feasible that TPTB just didn't show it? If so, then why isn't also plausible that Bryan and Rachel are also having deep and engaging we are being robbed of that as well?! Every year TPTB have their own agenda and its not present the love story. This year is no different, its more about setting up Peter to be the next lead, IMO.

I think this year more than any other they're doing the final couple wrong IMO. At least from the seasons I've watched. Maybe upcoming dates will have more content, fingers crossed

Each season the F2 gets better edits and sl, and if Peter is considered as the next lead that's a double rose tinted edit for him. Funnily, on Nick's season Vanessa got so much hate for daring to not like the process, and questioning it, from various blogs and sm. There were multiple tweets and ig comments along the lines 'what show did she think she signed up for, what an idiot for questioning it all' but this season Peter gets praised for not following the show party line and having reservations. Raven got praise for being so fun and easygoing. This season its the opposite. And I put the blame 90‰ on the F1 and F2 edit. Imo
I really don't blame the producers, though. They have a show to create, and as much as don't like it, the drama and bs sells, not the love story. And we all can see how gone Rachel is for Bryan, just from this edit. What if we also saw their deep and meaningful conversations, it would just be way too obvious, IMO.

Lol, I actually love that Bryan is devoid of sob stories. As someone who watches too many reality TV shows, I'm numb to most sob stories on these shows.
Bryan and Rachel share some similarities actually...
1) Both went to strict private schools
2) Their only sob story shared on the show is how both of them were awkward teenagers (like 99% of the people) and then blossomed into hotties later on in life. Such hardship.
No wonder they click so well.

O.k. I'll admit it. I didn't like Bryan at the M&G because his kissing just was way over the top. And my first pick (for myself!) was Peter. But I am sure that Rachel has picked Bryan and that clip from the hometown just clinches it for me.
I have been on this forum for years (yes, I know, I need to get a life!) and almost every season I hear members complain that TPTB never let us see the love story. This time, I think they are giving it to us on a platter. So while Bryan wouldn't be my pick, I have come to understand and appreciate why he is Rachel's and their obvious connection is just fun to watch.

@luvstx ITA this season the love story has been given to us on a platter. Right from the get go.
I'm enjoying seeing it unfold and seeing the lead go deeper and deeper into love with each passing episode. It's actuallly really Interesting to watch.
This is me when I watch them and the goofy look on my face onky gets more goofy as the season has gone on.

@FashionLover how is this season worse than the edit/storyline for the last two bettes? I'm really curious.
I was one of Jordan's biggest fans but what was shown onscreen as far as his storyline sickened me to watch at times with the gf questioning and the family drama shown. And then they made out. A lot.
Shawn drew me in because of the instant chemistry but the rest of the seasons n was tough to watch because it focused on TOG and Shawns Jealousy. All we knew about Shawn was he was jealous and they clicked.
Neither season were warm and fuzzy as far as enjoying a love story because they were intensely drama filled with other stuff.
This is the same as Des' where the focus was on Brooks and his "rejection" of Des.
Al we knew about Chris is that he wrote sappy love poems, they pinky swore, they skipped around like little girls and he played baseball.

I agree, and for sure, Bryan cannot be lacking a background story, but he doesn't talk much, in the group, or to her. She tries to ask question(s) but he just changes the subject back to her or wants to kiss instead. On their first 1:1 date, they are begin by walking down the sidewalk, he seems in a hurry, looking in the shop windows instead of at her, and she begins to talk about the sights they are going to see, and he interrupts her in mid-sentence to ask for a hug. If he is doing this within the first five minutes of their FIRST date, what does that say about their future? Then they proceed to address this issue of their relationship being shallow. (So for those who think they have had other deeper conversations not aired, here is proof they have not.) She says "Bryan and I have had the physical connection but I really wanted to see if we could go deeper than that (week 5, still don't know anything about each other - other then lips). I want to see if we can have the emotional connection today (still no emotional connection by week 5). Then on the bus, Bryan says "I feel like we've barely talked about, you know, just the basics. " Then she says "No because we're either always physical or ...You're so charming you're scaring me." Then instead of talking about the basics, he says I don't know what we're doing today but I just know it's going to take off to another level (with him does that mean 2nd base ? ) Get rid of all the other guys today and move onto hometowns and final rose" Then after the rappelling, he says he likes to be positive, confident and there's nothing negative in their relationship (still not talk about anything and yeah kissing is pretty "positive" ) This is where she says "I don't like to be played". Again, first date, week 5, she's still distrustful of him and they haven't talked about anything. Then this past week, at the romantic dinner, she still indicated she doesn't know much about him and she wants to know about his upbringing. He said he went to all boys private school because he wanted an earring. So we know he had acne and was skinny in middle school (just like 99% of American boys), and he went to a private school just like she did. I think there's a lot more, but they don't talk much. And I think if there were interesting discussions, they would air some of that. JMO

And Bryan's Mom, hi lady!! I love it.
I already love Bryan's mom but that's because I am acquainted with Latino (and Italian) mothers who LOVE their sons. They are the women in their sons lives until their wives come along. If their boys can cut the cord, they usually are incredibly loyal and loving given how much they love their mothers.
...And I have no doubt Rachel can handle it maybe better than others because her family seems just as protective- I highly doubt Judge Lindsay is an ole softie with Rachel's suitors.

Also, it's relatable. A lot of people out there, myself included, don't have major childhood traumas to share so it would be stories about awkward adolescence. As far as we know, Rachel has had a pretty "uneventful" upbringing.
