IMO he's annoying because he is immature.

I liked Eric just because he's into all that positive stuff which I depend on daily. He's said a couple of things I thought were immature, the fit he had when he got into that argument but I liked him as soon as we knew who he was.

Eric would definitely bring the entertainment if he was the next lead.

So basically this whole episode was just a bridge to get rid of the rest of MOT's and move things along...or in other words--a waste.
