I completely agree with many of the posters above. I think it is a bit myopic to think that Rachel isn't facing her unique sets of pressure as the first African-American lead in the franchise. I've watched tons of recap videos from members of the various racial and ethnic communities. From my observations, everyone (as in different groups of people) has their unique expectations of her, many of which are conflicting from those of other groups. She's entering a space that has never been occupied by anyone that looked like her and that really should not be overlooked.

Of course every lead faces major expectations and yes, they do assume their roles as lead anticipating those as in that that is what they signed up for after all. Nevertheless, that does not mean that Rachel isn't encountering her own unique sets of expectations, coupled with her desire to fall in love just as any other lead that has undergone the journey to do so. But at the same time she has those setbacks in the form of expectations stemming from how she's perceived as a black person occupying a white-dominated space, and then on top of that a black woman. It is quite reductive to overlook the coinciding impacts of both her race and her gender, and how those dynamics might converge to frame her experience and her apprehension on the public reception of her journey, decisions, etc.

I think she has been doing a terrific job in how she has handled herself, both on the show and off the show. I take no issue with her response to Ramona whatsoever. I don't think it makes her any less dignified or classy. Sometimes you just have to call out unnecessary ignorance, and that she did. I applaud her for it.

sadly discrimination exists IMO. I fear that choosing a WM will bring a lot of fire in SM. She said at the beginning of her media tour which is not far from after the FRC that she hoped people will support her journey of love. She knows IMO that her choice will not please everyone. For many will judge her for not picking a MOC IMHO

love is love regardless of the color of the skin. so very true but sadly not everyone do think that way. But IMO the fans just want to see a love story and a HEA at the end with a teary declaration. As long we will have that, fans will be happy. As far as public and SM, this is out of control and should be ignored IMHO

As some suspected, the blog was not written by Rachel. It was written by LANFORD BEARD( name is under the title of the blog) but from the perspective of Rachel which is bullcrap IMO. A white woman writing about a race-centered episode from the perspective of a black woman is laughable and ridiculous IMO

I just love Rachel, she is not going to put her name underneath some bullcrap article that does not reflect how she feel. @kashathediva noted that she is angry at production and ITA. She seems to be taking her anger out on trolls on SM.

Thank you for the heads up and credit.  I had a very good feeling(no source) that yesterday's blog was NOT written by Rachel. That little peek the audience saw behind the curtain once with Dean and again with Rachel during Monday's episode was very special. Remember that. Production does not often throw the audience a bone.
Quite OT and I apologize:
It's not easy being a mod here lately and we are members, too. So often having an opinion and being a mod is a double edged sword.
But just sometimes maybe we can get it right.  Either way, we should be allowed an opinion here, too. We put in a lot time running a place that would not exist without our time and diligence.  Please take some time today when you log in and post to remember this. We do this because we want to for you guys. Not because we have to or get paid. We want to. Please let's try to get along.

I actually woke up this morning and thought to myself....these BachandBachette mods are incredible. They are on the forum every day and get no pay for it. I would think some of you would like to take a pass on moderating from time to time.

I think she probably didn't have time to write the blog, as she was overseas all weekend and just seemed to get back before the episode. Even though Rachel may disapprove of what production is trying to do at times, I doubt she would purposely outright defy them. If she is as smart as I think she is, she would find another way to make it work for her.

Others have not written blog entries due to other reasons in the past. So, IMO, nothing to be sanctioned for and IMO production has kind of hung her out to dry in many ways anyway, but I kind of expected such.

Totally agree, Kasha, re the blog. I do appreciate how Rachel and the vast majority of the men have handled the whole Lee debacle in their own way. Dean's shade toward the producer's question during his interview was priceless. "You know what I'm talking about." (paraphrasing). Really appreciate that in that moment he was aware of how upset Rachel was and wasn't going to add anymore fuel to that fire by engaging with them. He may not be her F1, but in that moment, he may as well have been. Props to him!
