Because she is a moron. There are a ton of good restaurants in STL and most likely her parents are in the burbs not the city proper and are aware of them. Same with hotel. Idiot woman, IMO. Go to a baseball game and enjoy the Cards! Go to the zoo. It's great. See Forest Park. Go to SteaknShake. Go for Italian on the Hill. And if you have to be a moron, go shopping in the Galleria.
