Ben Higgins - Bachelor 20 - Discussion

Ben has done three TPTB shows, the wedding special and Famiky Feud. So the fact he likes some attention is not terribly surprising. Wasn't there a pic of him and his buddies shirtless skiing this winter? Yes, Ben likes attention. I just think he attempts to be more controlled how he gives it out.

Kudos to Lauren for keeping to herself so far. Anything else I want to say about her, I will leave for her thread.

I think the whole 'perfect Ben' narrative has gone to Ben's head and he has started thinking he is indeed perfect. I do think they both loved each other and wanted it to work right after the show but once things started getting rough during/after HEA, Lauren was probably the only one making the effort while Ben was happy pretending that everything is hunky-dory IMO.

IMO The fact that Ben never took responsibility or apologized publicly for the dual-ILY's and blindsiding Lauren by calling off the wedding publicly is a sign that he might not be taking much responsibility for things said/done in private either (JMO). After all, when you are perfect, everything wrong in your relationship must be the other person's fault, right? His post breakup interview tour is nauseating IMO and takes away any sympathy I had for him for going through a public heartbreak.

I never saw Ben disappearing and never bought into that he just wants to have a regular job. He loves the limelight and craves attention IMO - although he tries to act like he doesn't. And that's the thing for me... taking opportunities and things doesn't bother me at all as I always say more power to those who take opportunities when they come....my problem with Ben is that IMO he acts like he is so "above" it all and so much better than everyone else and it's his better-than-thou and holier-than-thou attitude that I can't stand. I feel like Ben is just full of BS with his "I'm just vanilla ol' Ben who is so unlovable...woe-is-me" which I find beyond annoying and manipulative.

Whoa if Ben takes the next bachelor that means he's not in if to find love but for the money. Jmo i mean May to September is only 4 months apart. How can you live with someone 18 months claim to be in love and then turn around and do another show. Come on bachelor producers big mistake! He's losing popularity also so maybe he did himself in by the way he has acted post break up. At least that's what I'm hoping for. All this jmo and thinking out loud. Lol

I don't think he's losing popularity at all. Maybe on this boards, I go to many boards and he just as loved as ever.   I think it's been over between him and Lauren for much longer then what we were allowed to know.

My IRL Bachelor watching friends.. who are FAR more casual watchers than I'm guessing most on this board, all heard the news of the split and then immediately got excited that maybe they'd pick him again. I think he's still incredibly popular with the majority, especially people that didn't watch HEA or follow him and Lauren that closely (which is most.)

Ben, to me, doesn't appear sad at all. In fact, he seems happier than he has in almost a year. He's even joking about the break up. If they offer (which they might), I see no reason why he'd turn it down.

I don't want to even think of them offering it to him again, so can we pretty please stop talking about it until there may be concrete proof? Please?! It's giving me the heebie jeebies !!

I really hope that Ben does not do the Bachelor again. Brad 2.0 happened at least partially because Brad didn't choose anyone at the end of his first season. Ben was part of a Bachelor Nation "power couple". He also did the 2 ILU's, blindsided Lauren on HEA about canceling the wedding, said that he'd marry Lauren tomorrow at the AFTR very publicly and is still considered "Perfect Ben" to so many people. Why is he the best choice?

I find it unfortunate that many times men's behavior get more of a pass than women generally do (it is ironic to me how harsh a lot of women are towards other females). This is all JMO.

Ben has that "aw shucks" Peter Brady thing going on which automatically gives him a pass on so much that other leads would not get IMO. 

I also think Ben is fully aware of this and uses it to manipulate with his woe-is-me and humble brag quotes. 

It's partly why I think Ben is far more shady and phony IMO than he lets on and is loving all this post-breakup attention.
