Anthony and Ashley are the cutest together. I understand she wants kids, but they really need to wait a couple of years IMO.
I understand where both Nate and Sheila are coming from. It's difficult to tell someone who's goal is always to succeed in anything, that they are doing something wrong. He needs to learn how to listen. I think Sheila's issues' might have to do with past relationships. She mentions not convincing anyone that she is good for them. No one should be doing that IMO so I think she might have been in a one way relationship where she was more into the guy than he was.
I'm not sure where Corey's coming from. He says he's always tried to say the right thing to make the other person happy. I think if he's attracted to Danielle then he can just let loose and be himself and stop worrying about the right thing to say. She wants a man, one to takes the lead. That can cause isues IMO because when is it time to take the lead, and when is it ok for her to make decisions.
I like this season so far, real issues, rather than nasty behaviour. I hope fingers crossed!
Thanks again @robinvi !
I actually think Nate is a good listener. Sheila is so rude. Talking about Character flaw over a ping pong game. The issue was so petty that with a little joke, everything would have been resolved. She is definitely bringing past baggage talking about Nate not allowing her shine. Jealous of her success. I was so stunned that it got that serious. Sheila needs to learn to pick her battles and stop being uptight.

@Ruqibabe IA with your post as well. I think she has issues, and once she learns to trust him, and know him, she'll be fine.

IMO Nate's attitude and behavior during the ping pong game was immature. He seemed determined to win and make her feel bad. Sheila's reaction seemed based on how he was treating her in that moment.

@jupitercornflakes that's how I sort of saw it. He was hammering that ping pong in a crazy aggressive manner. She was telling him to chill, but he wasn't listening, or that's how they showed it. That's why I stated in my comment, he needs to learn to listen.

IMHO Cody and Nate are young. They are being put into a situation where they don't know the women. Nate's desire is to lead. He has also talked about his desire to be the best. To him this means winning. He has not talked about (at least on TV) how he feels about rejection. As shown on TV, he seemed to miss Sheila's cues. BUT with his mom he was able to see how she felt. So I suspect he will get it and learn that most woman don't want someone to top them at games. They don't want to compete with their spouse They want to work with them. And they want their spouse to revel in their success. Imagine if he had said WOW you surprised me. Can I get another game and played without the "I'm going to beat you" attitude. Note that Sheila has implied that they were required to do certain things (like play ping pong and go horseback riding) and that was not what she wanted. I think the always being on requirement of the show disagrees with her. Cody has an opposite problem. If she were playing ping pong she would have wanted Cody to play like Nate and she would want to play that hard too. Cody wants to please. He learns by watching. I think Danielle interprets hesitancy as weakness and not masculine - and secretly worries that he may not be attracted to her. I don't think she sees her enthusiasm and thrill seeking as possibly overwhelming. I imagine that if Cody were to go full throttle that there might be more attraction but also a greater risk of confrontation. It's a difficult path to walk when you are just getting to know each other. But I still get the feeling that all 3 couples are in it to win it.

@Jackenzo Good post! I'm enjoying this season. I can see they all are enjoying the process so far. I'm sure problems will surface as they have this past epi, but I also like that they are real problems, and they need to learn how to deal with them with their new spouse.

Agreed. I think the game would have been fine if it had just been a friendly game where no one was really trying to be competitive.

@Ruqibabe Thanks for the vid. I listened to about half. (Can't stand all the like like like like like )
Some really good conversation though, and I too agree with a lot of what was said.

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 5 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
My head explodes when I watch this everytime, but I am addicted. I keep having to remind myself that we are only seeing a one hour or so show and this is a snippet of time we are shown.
The biggest "fault" I see and rest this one squarely on the experts shoulders, is that they profess to want to see the couple succeed. Exactly how successful do you think many couples would be who were married the "normal" way and had a meddlesome inlaw? An adult brother suddenly sprung on them? A woman who has lived with a man paired with a relatively inexperienced one? Each of these presents challenges that need to be worked through and that is compounded by the fact that they are strangers.
On many levels I find Nat sweet and understanding and aiming to please, but then that "Not winning is failing" attitude is contradictory to that statement. I think Cody is really a sweet and caring man, but his inexperience in a serious relationship renders him uneducated to the signs that Danielle is sending. I find Ashley and Anthony to be very interesting of the three couples because I find their struggles most similar to what a "normal" couple might encounter.
All three couples are experiencing what in my mind can be narrowed down to two words "communication problems". The real question is if/once they resolve that problem can the others be resolved. Just my 2 cents.

At first I liked all of these couples and had high hopes (I know, I'm being naive), but now I can't stand Nate. That whole "disrespect" crap screams street thug to me. He's very immature and self-centered. Sheila's position appears to be way above him. He seems to me to be a south side hood rat, and she is a classy educated woman. I'll be surprised if they make it past 6 months. I give them the 6 months simply because her faith won't let her break her vows easily. I feel so badly that the "experts" did this to her.

Re: Married At First Sight - Season 5 - Episode Discussion - *Sleuthing - Spoilers*
I am watching now. I just loved Corey's conversation with Danielle. Up front and honest, that alone tells me he is committed. She is very understanding. He got a little emotionally explaining that it's all new to him to speak his mind. She seemed to really like country life.
I like that Nate and Sheila prayed together. They both have strong religious beliefs, and I think they are both committed to the marriage.
Ashley and Anthony continue to make me smile. He's such a teddy bear with a great sense of humour, and she's always smiling from ear to ear.
Both couples have seen each other's place, Nate and Sheila are next.
Nate is on his way to Sheila's now.
