Re: Lee Garrett - Bachelorette 13 - **Sleuthing Spoilers**
They deffo did this on purpose imo too. Wonder if they thought no one in the media would pick this up or if they simple don't care what the publicity is and all publicity is good?
Big: You know, Manhattan has a lot of beautiful women.
Carrie: What an amazing observation!
Big: But the thing is, after awhile, you just wanna be with the one who makes you laugh.

AllAboutLove wrote:CH and co stating "none of us were aware" is essentially them admitting they don't vet these contestants at all (not that hard to scroll through someone's Twitter account) and his tweet only makes them look look worse IMO.
Going by the reply comments to CH's tweet it seems most people are calling BS on CH's tweet and how TPTB claim they didn't know when it's public info so they either knew and didn't care or they didn't care to know (find out).
Either way, I think it just sums up how much TPTB don't care at all about any of these contestants or leads (not that I ever thought they did).
I call absolute BS on the part of TPTB and shame on Chris Manson as the franchise's mouth piece.
Besides the vetting with interviews and psych testing, I actually do believe TPTB went out of their way to find at least one powder keg to help ignite the season and then innocently turn their heads, look sheepish and say "who me, I had no idea". This is exactly what MF does. Barking dog syndrome.
TPTB don't care about the cast and really don't care once the season is wrapped up. Hung out to dry.

@Kashathediva Totally deliberate. Just like the whole stupid thing with the ex-girlfriend of Demario. With all the vetting they do, there is no way they didn't know. This is just a new twist because Rachel is the first lead who happens to be a WOC. I don't know why they would possibly think this was a good idea in this political climate....or at any time for that matter.
As much as they try to screw with their Bettes, I find a very sweet irony in the fact that despite their best efforts, the women have actually done pretty well in finding partners from this show. Three of them have actually married their picks and all have kids and two more are still together and happy with their chosen F1....and now hopefully, we can add Rachel to that group.

When and why did you decide to audition for The Bachelorette?
I was actually scouted in Nashville. I got a message on Facebook from one of the show scouts saying, “Lee! What would you think if I asked if you would be interested to try out for The Bachelorette?”

They contacted him on SM, but they are saying we never knew about the tweets? What bull. Tptb disgust me many times, but this is a new low.

Let me get this straight. Lee survives another rose ceremony despite last night? Promo shows a 2 on 1 date with kenny. I bet having to keep him made Rachel cringe. JMO.

Re: Lee Garrett - Bachelorette 13 - **Sleuthing Spoilers**
So, while I genuinely like many of the producers, I have a hard time believing Lee‘s presence on this show is a complete accident. If you’re the sort of involved and informed viewer who even reads these recaps, by now you have surely heard about the uncovering of his two years’ worth of offensive tweets, and Chris Harrison’s subsequent denial that production knew about them. And let me just reiterate that the casting process for this show is intense. The second round, long before you become one of the chosen few to be flown to L.A. to meet producers, is a massive, 30-page background check. I remember filling it out in my apartment in Germany and ticking boxes saying, no, I’d never done porn, and no, I’d never been arrested. I remember scratching my head trying to remember every past address, and which friend I’d entrust to be my high school reference. This stuck out to me as I was 28 at the time and had been out of high school for a decade, and I told almost no one that I was doing this since the odds of making the show at that point were still so low. In that final round in L.A., the questions you’re asked is in the ballpark of many hundreds, mostly in writing, but also in person by producers, the show’s psychiatrist, its doctor and a background check guy. My point is, the process is nothing short of exceedingly thorough, and combing through one’s social media is now a basic step in dating, hiring and yes, reality-TV casting. Even if, when he met producers, he was an Academy Award-deserving actor (which, based on what I’ve seen of him on the show, he isn’t), there is a zero percent chance they didn’t have at least an inkling of Lee’s disturbing points of the view.
While I get the appeal of such guaranteed drama in the form of a white, sexist, racist country singer living in a house full of black men, vying for the affections of a black woman, it makes me ill. It taints something groundbreaking and momentous that goes beyond reality television, and feels very two-steps-forward-one-step-back. And frankly, many of these guys’ personalities are so big, I have no doubt I’d be entertained nonetheless and that drama would unfold naturally by basic personality clashing. (Sad how that concept sounds so innocent now.) Worst of all, it’s not like Lee’s opinions are only his. The show has gotten flak for years for underrepresenting minorities, but trust me, it’s not production. The producers I’ve known are as openminded and forward-thinking as anyone. It’s that a substantial chunk of this franchise’s core viewership isn’t like that. They’ve finally made such a wonderful leap forward, yet infected it with a cancerous contestant who, right now especially, we know is not alone in his backwards beliefs. And even if they’re painting him badly, which they are and should be, they’re still putting him on our screens and giving him airtime with many millions of Americans, some of whom might actually agree with and support him. He doesn’t deserve to receive that, and they don’t deserve to see someone they relate to. Get him off my television.

@emusha thanks for posting. I am so happy Sharleen is speaking up, she is such a rockstar IMO. And I know someone on the forum predicted they were going to cast a racist on the show but I was so skeptical that TPTB would stoop that low but it pretty stinks that they had to drag it on those guys in the house.....all jmo.

@mercieme agree that I'm glad sharleen is calling them out and I hope others do as well cos they deserve to be called out.
I find it obscene that they would purposefully put the MOC through the experience of dealing with this ***** of a man simply because the majority of their viewers are not from open-minded circles (if what Sharleen says is true about the viewership). It's a huge cope out and a vile act that the franchise needs to be called out upon. They have no right capitalizing on racism for their profit - if indeed that's what they've done - it's a hateful and disgusting act that should result in serious repercussions. Sadly that's still not the way our world works.
all imo.

I find it even more disturbing as the ABC President is a black woman! Disrespectful in so many ways. Screw viewership - show leadership!
Been watching this crap show like forever

Re: Lee Garrett - Bachelorette 13 - **Sleuthing Spoilers**
What duty of care regulations exist in the States? Are there laws that employers must provide safe and abuse free work environments? I know that the men are not paid but the lead and crew are working and working in a racist environment must be illegal. First of all Chad now Lee. Even if CH claims they did not about Lee, the men were clearly talking about it - we saw Dean mention it to a producer and also a number of the MOC sitting on the stairs having what looked like a heavy discussion. Surely allowing Lee to create this environment of abuse is illegal - jmo.
