Scenario one:

Girl: I love you.
Boy: I love you, too. (Then ILY, ILY, ILY, you're so cute, ILY on repeat)

**A few days later

Boy: Oh, btw, I told the other girl I love her too, and I think I'm going with her. Here is the limo. Thanks for the fun.

Or...

Scenario Two:

Girl: I'm falling in love with you.
Boy: I like you a lot. *awkward made more awkard for audience with awkward music* I'm dating multiple women, I've also been "in love" in this crazy bubble before. When I say ILY next, I want it to be/feel so strong and so real. Stronger than the last time(s), and I want it to be the last time. (Subtext: please be patient).

I'll take scenario 2. Personally.

I watch the show with pretty much the same snark set of eyes each season. I think it's pretty similar to most.
Only difference I see at this point, is each season has more SM allowed and cast/family being allowed to spoil things.
