Bachelorette 13 - Rachel Lindsay - SM Media - *Sleuthing Spoilers* Discussion

We got to see Corrine's personality way more than Rachel. Rachel almost had a MOT edit. She had her 1 on 1 too late in my opinion. Nothing against Rachel but I still find her somewhat boring. The show didn't do their job to make me interested in her journey. It's not even her fault. I'd say all the girls had boring edits except Corrine. This is why I think Rachel should've used SM way more since the show started. Whatever the show didn't show at least your SM gives people another way to get to know the real you. JMO

She apparently is funny. Why not use SM to show more of who she really is? If she's not SM savy, I'm sure there are many who can show her the ropes.

IA I kept waiting for the 'ette edit, which never happened IMO. Hopefully after the WTA she will gain followers which IMO would show some support. Not everyone follows for support, I realize that, but it would be nice to see her numbers increase.

Well, contracts are meant to be broken. You never know what this crazy show will do. There is always a chance they dump Rachel last minute and slip us Corinne for the 'Ette.

IMO she doesn't need to use SM more than she does. It only gives people more ammunition to criticize her. IMO people will praise you today for the same thing they'll criticize you for tomorrow, and we see that time and time again on SM. Most of the criticism of her has been from her liking a tweet or speaking too freely on IG live when maybe she shouldn't. She's already gotten the 'ette gig, and by all accounts it was always hers to begin with so she doesn't need to campaign for it. The snippets that she chooses to show us have given me a decent gauge on her personality and I don't think she's boring. But if coming out of her season, the worst thing viewers have to say about her is that she's boring, then she's come out pretty well IMO. There have been several boring leads, the show will go on regardless. I'm sure when her season starts airing or is about to begin airing, her SM use will ramp up, but I see no reason for her to change what she's doing right now. All JMO.

IA! I feel this season the show didn't just do a disservice to their current lead but also their future lead. What do I know about Rachel from the show that I couldn't have found out from reading her bachelor bio? Only that she is okay with interracial dating, is religious, finds it difficult to open up and be vulnerable and is a terrific dancer. The show could have easily shown the fun side she had that Millsy talks about instead of adding that ridiculous Corinne-Lorna sequence. IMO It's like they assumed people would be interested in her journey just from her many accomplishments.

I am not sure how much the WTA is going to help her popularity considering they didn't even let her sit with the rest of the girls and chime in and only got her out towards the end. IMO They probably didn't want to risk her saying something in front of an audience that might harm her image going into her season. Today's FD episode conversation when she opens up about her feelings for Nick and her heartbreak during elimination is probably going to get some more viewers to root for her HEA. IMO It almost feels like Nick was told to have those conversations because without that, I am not even sure what they were planning to have as her storyline.

All JMO.

IMO doesn't matter how many followers she has or that she doesn't use SM much, she'll get criticized just the same. It appears so far TPTB aren't helping her become popular we'll just have to wait till she starts filming.

I think her storyline will be she couldn't open up, she did with Nick then was let go. Same old same old IMHO.

She might get criticized just the same but she doesn't need to give people ammunition. Less is always more on SM IMO.

It's different with Rachel though because she's now the lead. She HAS to engage somewhat on SM, IMO. It's going to be her journey now and half of the audience doesn't even know that much about her, IMO.

For years the lead was not on social media when it was non-existent and did fine. I have no problem with keeping a low profile on it.

Going by the last three 'ettes who's followers grew in record numbers when they were announced, it was considered a good thing. Each of them are well over 1 million JoJo is at 2m. The lack of followers for Rachel tells me SM doesn't care, they don't know she's the ette, or they don't know her usernames.

I'd be interested in hearing what other reasons for the lower than normal followers.

Maybe not connecting with the general audience. Rachel is good on paper and in person but on TV, I'd say she doesn't come alive. Maybe her being the lead will be different but as a contestant it has been rather dull. I'm intrigued to watch her be the one to really chase her F1 since I didn't see that side of her full on with Nick.

Holy crap. I can't believe she's not even at 300k yet, especially given she had the press tour and big announcement. That's really surprising. It will be interesting to see if it jumps up after she's eliminated tonight, but still. 

To be truthful, most of the girls from Nick's season do have low followings. It was a weirdly edited season where a lot of people couldn't really get a grasp on the girls IMO.
