Kaitlyn Bristowe - Shawn Booth - Bachelorette 11 - #4 - Discussion

Shawn and Kaitlyn barely new each other when they got engaged. For me an engagement from the franchise means we'll date and see what happens. In Shawn's mind they still may be in the dating phase. It's not uncommon for committed couples to date 3 plus years before they get married. They say they would be open to having children with out being married. Time will tell if they do have children or get married. At this stage in their relationship I don't see either happening anytime soon JMO

I think 3 years is a long time not to be engaged/ planning a wedding, especially in your early 30’s. I feel sorry for Kaitlyn and she definitely wears her heart on her sleeve. We don’t know what the issues holding Shawn back are though.Hopefully he’s heading towards a wedding or I see a break up in the next year.

I feel bad for Kaitlyn and also for Shawn if he wants to marry her but can't do it yet. I think Kasha's right and therapy might help them both. I did wonder if she's going to give up at some point after reading that article. Sad.

It may not be him. There could be issues no one but the couple are aware of and he could be getting the bum rap. Jmo

I don't know why she is airing this. It makes her look desperate and it doesn't exactly make him look good either. Deal with it privately between yourselves or with a counsellor and if can't then it's sayonara time.


If I was the partner being talked about in this situation I would be p*ssed.

I know! It's like she's putting all the blame on him. They need to have a talk about this. I wasn't worry about them not married yet but now I don't see her leave like you said.

Also the media needs to stfu. Kaitlyn probably said her usual "we haven't planned yet, enjoying life blah blah" but then felt like she had to say something else.

Personally? Doesn’t look good to me. I think all the signs are starting to add up.

I feel badly for Kaitlyn, but honestly maybe there are legit reasons Shawn just isn’t ready or wanting to marry her. Idk. But... regardless, it’s time to $hit or get off the pot.

I'm sure it has been highlighted on this thread before but Kaitlyn's post-Bachelorette life is still tied so closely to all things Bachelor and Bachelorette. She doesn't have much else going on for interviewers to ask about or for herself to promote (except her podcast, in an increasingly overly-saturated Bachelor podcast market). So interviewers ask about the engagement and wedding, and they ask about Shawn. That's it. And that's what Kaitlyn is still promoting b/c her engagement and future wedding is really all she has to promote/talk about.

Let's look at the past bachelorettes, Jillian is a designer, Ashley is a dentist, Emily a stay-at-home-mom, Des is a dress designer, Andi is an author, JoJo is a house-flipper, and Rachel is a lawyer. Andi is the only one who switched careers.

Kaitlyn was a dancer, right? For all her whining about how TPTB screwed her over by not allowing her - a dancer! - to be on DWTS...what's she doing with that dancing experience?

Maybe all she really wants is to be a stay at home mom and needs that ring first? Time will tell. But I don't think all the blame should be placed on Shawn -- who knows what is going on behind closed doors? And hopefully, they are working out whatever issues they have.

I thought she was singing and had some music coming out. Does anyone know when that will be?

I know the subtext here is that she’s a heavy drinker, but I don’t think that’s true. So much of that is her brand and image imo and it doesn’t seem to bother Shawn anyway. Maybe there are other things at play but then I would hope he’d let her know what they are and they could tackle them together to set a plan in motion.

Maybe she just needs to stop bugging him because that's what it seems to me she's doing, plus I would think embarrassing for him for her to keep mentioning it in the media. If she can't be happy with the way things are she has a choice. She's grasping at straws indicating she wants to give the ring back so he can re-propose, it sounds desperate to me, and inflicting guilt on Shawn.

The last thing I would do is give him an ultimatum. No one should be forced into marriage IMHO.
