Oh, I was thinking about this very thing last night!

When they were chatting at the cocktail party she said she wanted to be honest.  She said her friend signed her up. Nick said his friend signed had him up too.  She said she told her friend she wanted it to be Nick but her friend thought that would be impossible to which Nick responded he had thought that was impossible too.  She then said she decided to go on even though it would be a different guy but then she heard the announcement it was Nick (sounds like this was after she had already been cast) and felt that it was basically "fate".  Her words were something like "the stars aligned".

What I liked about this convo is that watching it I felt Nick had no idea what she was going to say next  Her first line was "I know something about the show" after which she paused.... then said her friend signed her up. IMO she had his full attention because she looked so serious and saying her friend signed her up could have led to her wanting a different guy, etc. Also telling him she would have gone on the show if it was a different guy Nick was left hanging until she followed with her belief in fate. My guess is that he was on tender hooks then relieved.
IMO the way she communicated this shows she put all her truths out there instead of the standard "I'm only here for you" line.
It inadvertently kept him on his toes
