I don't think he understands that she needed to hear: with you!! He probably thinks that's that obvious to her. He's just laid back and pragmatic, and she's a hot mess imo. They were speaking different languages there. She's a very happy girl post-show so I'm guessing he's very fluent in whiny, needy, crying Jo by now as I doubt she magically changed who she is in 2 weeks

Yeah, I get that, but they have been dating for just a few weeks. He was probably caught off guard.
