So I've been looking at the wrong state all along for my K1 Visa? Does it snow in Kansas? Because that would be a dealbreaker.

The amount of taxes we pay are outrageous!

I wonder how that works for shilling and income. I would think it's like being self employed. Declare income, write off expenses, pay minimal income tax I'm guessing.

IDK I think it looks like a prison. Seriously. Not my taste. Kansas--very hot summers. Cold winters. Nice autumns and springs. Tornados. Hail storms. Good baseball and football teams, IMO.

On income tax: self-employed is not going to result in minimal income tax. You can write off the expenses but that is because you are going to be paying expenses, and to get the tax deduction they have to truly be business related. Good record keeping is essential - and time consuming. On top of it all you pay both (employee and employer) halves of your own social security. Ultimately it often is MORE taxes than on traditional employee income.

@dw_a_mom I know. I'm in that boat. Not the shilling boat but the self employed. Good record keeping is a must, time consuming to say the least.

It looks pretty to me although is a little cold looking right now. I think furniture will make a big difference. I have a 2 story family room and like it although hope the lights never need changing.

I'd kill myself trying to get a cobweb way in the corner. I'd need a handy scaffold.
