@butterflylove Thanks for all the baby news! Congrats to all!
What a crappy apology from Elly. We all make mistakes? That's not a mistake, that's just plain hypocritical of her. I'm glad she's being called out. I'm tired of hearing from those who play victim and don't accept responsibility for the consequences of their actions. jmo's.

Yeah, Australia Day is definitely getting to the point even among the regular white people I know, where you make a choice to do pretty much nothing if you think the date should change. I mean, sure, go to the beach or whatever if its a nice day but in the same way you would any other day. Not celebrating means *not celebrating*.
Ten years ago my extended fam would get out the Australian flags and do a cheesy Australia Day party with Aussie trivia and stuff. Now we wouldn't dream of it, none of us do anything, and we're not super woke or whatever. We're just... moving with the times, as you do, when you come to realise that what was done in the past isn't appropriate moving forward. Apparently it is actually hard for some!
(oh to be clear I don't mean being white is regular, I mean white people who are regular. Like, not political activists or whatever. Just mainstream, swinging voters, etc)

@GuardianAngel That was actually her apology/excuse from LAST year. Her apology from this year wasn't even worth posting - an IG story in which she claimed she was "just at a friend's house having a few drinks..." on Australia day, as if that's somehow different to an Australia day party.
@leavers I agree. They need to change the date. It's disrespectful and upsetting for too many people and has become a day of division. Meanwhile Elly seemed surprised when people called her out AGAIN for partying. She really doesn't seem too bright; it's probably best she's no longer a nurse.

@Norcalgal Unfortunately Elly’s already here, we can’t kick her out
But seriously, how dumb is she? Isn’t the definition of stupid something like repeating the same thing over again and expecting a different result?
Whether she deserves it or not, she has a platform, so if she continues to make bad judgement calls like this, she’s going to get called out for it.

Just in case it wasn't mentioned yet, Sophie Tieman from Bacher 2018 is now engaged and will get marry this April 2022. Her fiance is Joe... a guy she knew and worked with about 2 1/2 years ago. Met the day she moved to Sydney when Season 6 was airing. He's half Lebanese, tall and handsome.

Ex-Bachelorette Georgia Love slammed for Instagram posts promoting Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia’s government has been heavily criticised by the international community for its human rights abuses, including its treatment of women and the LGBTQIA+ community, and for repressing political opposition.
Just last week, Saudi Arabia was condemned by human rights groups following the mass execution of 81 people in one day, including Amnesty International which criticised the kingdom’s “deeply flawed justice system, which metes out death sentences following trials that are grossly and blatantly unfair”.
Love and Elliott, however, were enthused to be guests in the country.
“After only opening to tourists in 2019, we can’t state how excited we are to be among the first Aussies to tour Saudi,” Love’s post to her 235,000 followers read.

Elaine Pearson, the Australian director of Human Rights Watch, called the posts “troubling”.
“The Saudi government has a deliberate and sophisticated propaganda strategy that involves using celebrities to launder its reputation and deflect attention away from its awful human rights record. It’s all part of an effort to convince international investors to invest in the country despite pervasive human rights violations,” she said.
“When celebrities and social media influencers take Saudi government money while staying silent on the government’s atrocious rights record, they are boosting the kingdom’s strategy of whitewashing Saudi government abuses.”
They obviously don't care about the abuses taking place. How anyone can enjoy themselves in that situation is beyond my comprehension. jmo's
